The Puritas MWF Replacement Refrigerator Water Filter will leave you with cleaner, clearer, great tasting water and ice. Activated Carbon Technology improves water quality without removing beneficial minerals. Reduces chlorine, odor contaminants and particulate. Also replaces the following filters: GE Part Numbers: MWF, MWFP, HWF, HWFA, MWF3PK, MWFA, MWFAP, MWFDS, MWFINT, MWFP Kenmore Part Numbers: 46-9991, 46-9996, 469991, 469996, 9991, 9996, GWF Aftermarket Part Numbers: CLCH102, RWF1060, SGF-G1, SGF-G9, WF287, WSG-1, OPFG-RF300, GERF-100, RFC0600A, EFF-6013A, EG-1, FMG-1 How To Install The MWF Filter: 1. Remove old filter cartridge by grasping and turning to the left about 1/4 turn. 2. Apply the month sticker (included) to the cartridge as a reminder to replace the filter with 6 months and remove red cap. 3. Align unlabeled side of filter with the indicator line so that it can be inserted into the filter cover. 4. Turn the cartridge 1/4 turn to the right to lock it into place - you will feel a stop and the locked symbol should now be lined up with the indicator line. 5. Flush new cartridge by dispensing water for about 5 minutes. Your refrigerator manufacturer recommends dispensing at least 2 gallons of water to remove trapped air from the water line and discharging any loose charcoal sediment. *Tip: On almost all refrigerators, your reminder light is simply a 6 month timer, it doesn’t measure water volume or tell you if your filter is clogged. Your filter may last for more or less time depending on your local water quality and how much water you use. If your water flow is reduced, or it begins to taste like tap water, you know it is time to change your filter.

This filter didnt seem to work at all.. Its only a couple of weeks old.. and water tastes gross. It appears to be made in the USA.. I was curious, so i opened it up..and saw that the filter carbon wasn't glued completely to the bottom of the case. Also had two o-rings on the top that didnt appear to be sealing well.. I think the water was just bypassing the carbon.. Hence, I was just drinking city water. Might be a fluke, but appeared to be a factory flaw.

The water from my fridge didn't taste or smell good with this filter. Toughed it out for about a month and couldn't stand it any longer so replaced with another brand which works great.

This was inexpensive, but constantly had slow leaks from the seam joining the top and bottom half of the plastic case. I subsequently bought another brand, and haven't had the same problem.

Took a flyer on this and it worked great. We've got pretty good water to begin with
We bought two when this product was just a few months out from its debut on Amazon. Took a flyer on this and it worked great. We've got pretty good water to begin with, so perhaps our use is not truly testing the limits of its efficacy. However, we did not find any strange or foul tastes/odors with its use and will definitely purchase more -- especially given the cost as compared to OE.
