Hudson Made - Beard & Shave Soap (Citron Neroli)

Being relatively new to using a DE razor, I ordered and tried lots of different soaps. This Hudson Made had my favorite scent of them all: masculine without being overpowering, lightly citrus without smelling like candy. The smell faded quickly after the shave, which is exactly what I wanted (I work in an environment where strong smells would cause problems).The lather itself was easy enough to make. It was not as easy or slick as what I eventually chose as my standard (Proraso green shaving soap).Once my beard got longer, I discovered my favorite use for the soap. It is a fantastic beard soap--I wash with it every day in the shower. The pleasant smell and great lather make it a wonderful shampoo/soap for my beard. It is strong enough to wash the oil or beard balm out of my beard without stripping it or making it feel dry.As a shaving soap: 4/5--good but not my favoriteScent: 5/5Beard wash/shampoo: 5/5

I’ll start by saying I loved the scent! I was looking for a clean, fresh green and almost citrusy scented shave soap. I also enjoy supporting small manufacturers and especially local. Sadly however this soap gave me the worst shave of my life. I don’t say that with any exaggeration either. While the scent was up my alley; the shave soap itself was horrid. Extreme friction, absolutely no slickness and several bad face cuts with my DE razor. I’ve been a wet, (shower), shaver for over 20 years and I enjoy trying many different quality products. Beside the outrageous $25 retail price, the shave itself created blade chatter and absolutely no slickness to speak of. Sadly while I want to support the brand and their mission, and loved the scent, the shaving aspect of the soap itself was painful and awful sad to say. I unfortunately cannot recommend this particular shave soap.

This is my second order. Great product, cleans my beard and leaves a nice, faint woodsy/citrus scent. I use this soap daily and some beard oil afterwards as this product can leave your beard a bit dry. But if you're taking care of your beard you should use some aftercare product any ways. Will continue to purchase!

The scent isn't overpowering at all and leaves my skin (very sensitive) feeling smooth and refreshed. There is a HUGE difference between using quality shave soaps like this and cheaper stuff. With Hudson I can get a very close shave and not have to worry about irritation or worse, ingrown hairs.

The ingredients listed on the box are completely different from the ingredients listed here. The description says “no synthetic fragrance”, but it has Neroli Fragrance Oil, which is synthetic. It has a very strong chemical scent like a cheap household cleaner. I am not allowed to return it even though it is unopened and they lied about the ingredients, because it’s a “personal care item”. I believe this product is counterfeit.I’m attaching a pic of the ingredients on the box to show what’s actually in it.

As a shaving soap, it produces a really great lather. Fragrance is always a very personal preference, but I love the fragrance. It's great to wake up to in the morning.

Unlike other shaving soaps, this one lasts a long time. The aroma is very pleasing and the lather helps make a clean shave. I also greatly enjoy the other Hudson Made beard and shave soaps, but this one is my favorite.
