Fresh take on an amazing character
Great story and great art. I honestly think they should make this into a movie. With a fresh screen play and some fleshed out character this would be a hit!

Fresh Poison Ivy story
I absolutely loved this book! A wonderful story of the young Pamela Isley started on her path to becoming Ivy. All the characters had me invested in the story and the love interest was done well and had much more meaning than the usual high schooler relationships in graphic novels.

Excellent!
Wow. This is one of the best stories I’ve ever read. I don’t know - I just loved it. Complete empathy with Poison Ivy! Kody Keplinger is an amazing writer.

Wonderful story
It's a great origin story for an iconic character. I loved the art style especially. The story is pretty good overall! I wish they had gone into Ivy's dark side a bit more but this comic is marketed pretty young I think. I recommend this to anyone that wants to learn more about Ivy.

Pull the plug, the comic industry is dying.
Poison Ivy: thorns is just another symptom of the disease that is affecting today's comic industry.Maudlin and drab, Kiplinger's more concerned with airing her grievances and pushing agendas rather than writing a good, captivating story. The art, appropriately gothic in tone is poor and amateurish in places. Characters have blobs for bodies and noses sharper than a wedge of cheese. As far as Poison Ivy stories go, this is one of the worst ones I've read.As far as the story is concerned; Pamela Isley lives in a stately, gothic manor with her Father "Gendo" (seriously, he looks like he was ripped straight from Neon Genesis Evangelion). Since her Father is Gendo, it comes as no surprise that he carries out nightly experiments on the young Pamela. Which begs the question of why he would let anyone stay there? (Because the plot demands a forced, contrived love story, that's why!) The only part of Poison Ivy gotten right is the misanthropic misandrist, here cranked to 11.... and only towards white guys...that's something I guess...Give Keplinger a tourniquet, her bias is bleeding on every page.Who is this comic for? It's not young girls. It's not for adolescent women. Hell, it's not even for comic loving 30 something women like myself. It's for the author. It's the author's revenge fantasy. Forget having a good cohesive story, character's with depth, someone pissed in the author's cereal and she wants everyone to know about it, good storytelling be dammed.Recommended Reads:Poison Ivy: Cycle of Life and DeathYear One: Poison IvyBatman: Poison Ivy #1

Gothic Ivy
I received an advanced copy of Poison Ivy: Thorns through NetGalley so I could share my review with you!Content Warning: Poison Ivy: Thorns contains scenes of bullying, harassment, and unhealthy familial relationships.Pamela Isley is quiet for a reason. She’s got secrets, the kind that could destroy lives. Plants can’t tell secrets, though, so Pamela surrounds herself with nature. Besides, people always seem to want something from Pamela that she isn’t willing to give. Her plants take lots of concentration and nurturing, but they behave in predictable ways. But, when a cute goth girl named Alice is forced to stay in Pamela’s house, she begins to wonder if maybe people aren’t too bad after all. Pamela will have to choose between her secrets and her future, or else risk the consequences.I loved the gothic flair that this story had! It was surprisingly fitting for Poison Ivy’s backstory and style and made this graphic novel really stand out from the other Poison Ivy stories I’ve read before. This story also showed another side of Ivy’s character, one that is scientifically minded, loving of nature, and willing to do what it takes to defend herself and the ones she loves. These motivators make her actions in the story understandable, even when they extend beyond the law. Though traditionally a villain, Ivy is incredibly easy to root for in this story! My Recommendation-If you’re looking for a queer graphic novel to kick off your pride month reads, you should definitely pick up a copy of Poison Ivy: Thorns! This book would be perfect for fans of villain backstories that give you a new perspective on classic characters!

loved seeing how Pamela became Ivy
This is the first book I’ve read by Kody Keplinger and I really enjoyed it. I don’t know much about Poison Ivy and I’m loving these updated origin stories. Especially the villain ones. Ivy’s real name is Pamela, but her mom wanted to name her Ivy. Pamela’s mom taught her all about plants. But when something went wrong, Pamela’s dad started experimenting on her. Pamela was working on something to help plants grow. She wants to help her mom, but there are things happening to her body. A girl from school, Alice, moves in for a little while and Pamela’s dad warns her about sharing their family secrets. He reminds her over and over that she can’t trust anyone but family. There is a lot of negative things in this book that makes Pamela become Ivy. She gets sexually harassed and blamed for it. Her father is basically a monster. She has feelings for Alice, but she’s afraid of killing her. It’s just a bad life for Pamela. I liked the focus on environmental issues.I gave this book 4 1/2 stars, rounded up to 5 on Goodreads. Thank you to DC for providing me with an ebook for review. #InpartnershipwithDC.

Bitter Sweet
Loved this, was worried when I started reading thinking it’d slide into some messed up tropes but I’m glad it didn’t and showed a perfect sad sonnet of a Woman coming into her own, taking her power and owning her darkness.

a brilliant must-have
a must-have. One of the best comic books I've ever read in my entire life. The story is chilling and important, it deals with real issues while also showing us love at its peak.I really loved it, definitely not your typical/ mainstream comic book. 1000/10 would recommend it.Poison Ivy is truly the most fascinating comic book character ever and this story is hopefully one of the many that we will get to read about her.
