Attenzione all'edizione

Just buy when it says Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler together on a book!
I bought this along with 11 other Julia Donaldson Books(All Board Books). I did a lot of research before buying and building my 15 month old daughters first library along with Van Fleet, Eric Carle, Dr Suess etc. At first it was all about pictures then sounds then role play and now its the story in 12-13 months she has grown with these books and loves anything we introduce now. Each book has a 12-14 page story which gives you abundance of opportunity to spend quality time with your little one. Reading is just one of the things you can do with these. They are illustrated so very well with vibrant colours and end to end pictures that you have so much to explore if you introduce reading really young. I have copied some of the illustrations on to a A4 sheet given my daughter to color. Just buy when it says Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler together on a book.

Aaaand woooooosh they were gone 😁
Who doesn't love a julia donaldson book!!!! We read them so often in our house that mummy and daddy can recite at least 4 of them from memory. I love the board book version. They sit neatly on the shelf all together and stand on their own which means they don't all fall over. They are a good size for children to hold. Love the colourful illustrations and the way all the characters seem to appear in other books, you do have to look quite closely to find some of them but that's half the fun!!! Love love love this book

The witch had a cat, and a very tall hat...
As an Early Years teacher Julia Donaldson’s childrens’ books are typically a joy. There’s a bit of variety in age/stage targeting, but regular themes include sharing; working together; tricksiness, where an often smaller underdog/s succeed in duping larger, ill-intentioned foes; determination; and the avoidance of stereotypes. I love many, and how well kids (both friends/family, and pupils) respond to them. Books that draw kids in are always a good thing. But ‘Room On the Broom’ remains my personal favourite. If for nothing more than the audacious similarity substitution of ‘witch’ for ‘fish (in ‘fish and chips’)!This book is a bit more complicated in structure than ‘The Gruffalo’, but although meetings are largely between friendly, collaborative entities (until a dragon is encountered) the story has some similar themes: a progressive journey; encounters with different creatures; and a life-threatening encounter with a mythical beast – in this case resolved by creative collaboration between friends rather than individual rapid-thinking against a series of potential adversaries. This is a lovely book to read aloud (I’ve always given the dragon the Welsh valleys accent of my late grandparents – the dragon is red, like the one on the Welsh flag) and has beautiful illustrations that stand up well to being shown to a group when reading. Perfect for preschool through to early primary.

A classic not to be missed...
This is one of the best stories from Julia, the story flows and the rhyme is well paced making it really fun to read aloud. The illustrations are really good and detailed and the 'monster' at the end who saves the witch is just so much fun, it's clever and brilliant. I love this book and I read it regularly at storytime and sometimes do a craft with it as it gives you so many options. Well worth buying for your library, it's a classic.
