I notice my speed going down staircase have deteriorated considerably as I age. Can this product help me increase speed going down staircase?

IMO there are more components in going down stairs than going up and more than this device can train for. This is specifically for balance and speed and trained reaction time. The more comfortable you are on your feet the easier it will be to maintain balance and move around. Stairs however have an added complexity of strength in the knees needed to absorb impact and depth perception/spacial awareness needed to land correctly. It's not a cure all but it won't hurt either. You will still need to strength train your knees/quads and work on spatial awareness.

what is the width of this ladder ?

Yes: the bar tip side to side is 17" and the strap inside edge to edge is 14". This is functional on concrete but I think it could be better at an inch or so wider. Each bar is 1 1/4 inch wide and the inside edges of two bars is 14 1/2 inch. There is notable tripping risk requiring looking at the ladder and caution with the learning curve. I have found it very useful and certainly helps tune attention to footwork. Cactus Ken

Can you climb this ladder or is it only for training your legs?

Training is done while the ladder is on the ground would not support someone's body weight if you tried to climb.

Is this ladder appropriate for a 9 year old? Are the 13in spacings too wide? Should I get an adjustable width ladder??

My grandkids play in it all the time, they are 10,8 and 5 years old. The 5 year old just has a good time but the other 2 are good at it. Think of the side of a hopscotch grid.

Product is as advertised. It's an authentic SKLZ ladder as is very good if you are looking to improve your lateral movement.

I use it to coach soccer with my U-10 boys, and they work absolutely great ! Very well built. Don't be fooled if you take it out of the box and you see a rung twisted up and you think its a manufacturer's mistake as some reviewer's have thought, as it just takes some twisting out. I had 3-4 like that, but took only 1-2 minutes to figure it out, and it looked perfect. Great product !!!
