How dose this compare to the zowie ec2-a

Shape is a bit differen and weight is a little heavier but not noticable too much to me. I have medium to large hands so it feel right to me. But differences are weight with Surge is 100g and EC2-A weight is 93g, sensor in EC2-A is a 3310 and sensor in Pulsefire Surge is a 3389. Clicks on the EC2-A have a little more resistance on it where the Surge has clicks that have resistance behind them but they are still fast. Having used both, they're both good mice. The HyperX has something good going for them

No. It will plug and play without software. You will want to download the HyperX NGENUITY software if you want to customize what the buttons do or change the rgb color from default value (red).
