Made well and a great design. The design puts the light directly over what your reading. This is the best one I’ve ever purchased thru the years.

I bought mine back in April this year. It's a GREAT lamp for an individual work station, not disturbing others around you. Don't expect it to light up a room, it's not meant for that purpose. I like the portability and design; I use it at my desk and by my recliner. I have had no problem with any part of the construction.My bulb lasted only 6 months but I am wondering if I don't let it "warm up" long enough before I shut it off. I have only had a few times of extended use but otherwise I use it for a little morning reading then shut it off. Any suggestions for this type of bulb?I am quite satisfied with this product and would recommend it if one is in need of good lighting for low vision.UPDATED REVIEW as of Dec. 2013:I found that my bulb was not the problem. The unit will be replaced by OttLite, as it has a TWO year warranty and the bulb has a ONE year warranty. My dealings with OttLite have been very satisfactory. With OttLite warranty service I would not hesitate purchasing more of their products. Be sure to keep your purchase receipt incase you have an incident.

Purchased for a friend's mother who has low vision. Her old lamp was metal and, although the durability of a plastic lamp concerned me, she loves that she can move it without it squeaking. That doesn't sound like much to most of us but she's almost 80. She lives in her favorite chair and naturally gets up and down for breaks. She may be a little more sensitive to sounds because of her poor vision and for days mentioned how this lamp doesn't make any noise when she swings it from over her head to get out of the chair. A breeze to set up as it required only one screw to put together. Her only complaint was feeling around to find the switch which was in a different location than her old light but that's to be expected switching from one product to another. Thumbs up from my friend's mother!

There really is a difference between Ott lights and everything else. The light is so bright that you can see everything you need to, but it's not harsh, glaring, or hot. I stopped doing embroidery for years because under regular table lamp I would get eye strain headaches, but I put an Ott floor lamp over the back of the couch VOILA! I could sew again! And the ceiling light in my sewing room is so wimpy that I put two more in there on my craft table (one clamp-on style, one desk-style) .No, they're not as cheap as some others but they're damn well worth it. But if you sew, craft, color, paint, read a lot, or do anything else that requires good lighting, this is the thing for you. Solidly made, fantastic quality light. No more headaches.

I love this light..... I have purchased six OTT lites over the years. The one this replaces was well over ten years old. I moved to a tropical climate four years ago where plastic and rubber disintegration and salt air corrosion are issues. These lights have held up and have been worth the price. I purchased the rolling stands too for this one and its twin and that makes them very mobile around my sewing and cutting tables. I gave my husband the one with the magnifiers for his work bench and he loves it. I purchased a more aesthetic looking one for my living room so I could do needlework while watching tv. The desk top lamp works near my sewing machine as well as for paperwork. The "day light" bulbs are awesome for color matching while sewing as well as making a sewing room with only one window less drab. I highly recommend them.

Well over a decade ago, I discovered Ott-Lites. My mom has been using the fold-up task lamp I gave her well over a decade ago. I've got three floor lamps, three fold-up task lamps (one with battery backup), a desk lamp, and two of the mini fold-up lamps - not sure what to call those, other than "handy," as I used one for reading two weeks ago during a power outage. It's easy to get replacement bulbs online and to identify what model number replacement bulb to order by contacting the company with the model number of the lamp (some, I think, also list the replacement bulb number on the lamp itself).I adore the light given off by Ott-Lite, no matter what model I'm using.I especially like this floor lamp for its versatile nature. The base slips nicely under a chaise lounge and curves over the lounge for easy reading. Only challenge is my boyfriend's Boston terrier - Boscoe grabs a spot in the chaise lounge on a regular basis. Maybe he's seeking the natural light, himself! Ott-Lites are my favorite lights, second only to sunlight!

I had a ottlite table lamp that I loved, but I couldn’t position it over my work area. Because the lamp is short, I basically had to tilt it all the way up to get the light where I needed it. So I bought this lamp. It came in the “frustration free” packaging. The lamp was put together AND the bulb came preinstalled. All I had to do was screw a single bolt to attach the stand to the pole. And it works fantastic! The lamp is fully adjustable from the base of the flexible tubing to the top. I was able to move the lamp over my work area and tilt the lamp slightly so it better illuminates where I work. I will revise my review again in a few months to say how this lamp works over time. But its a five-star review so far!
