Excellent customer service
I initially received the wrong product (3/4" drill bit vice a 1" drill bit). I contacted the seller, and they immediately corrected by sending the 1" x 54" drill bit via 2-day FedEx! Excellent customer service! The bit is exactly what I needed, very well made and will last an extremely long time. This thing is built to take drilling into hard and compact soil and has a through hole in the bit to tie either fish tape/line or wire to it for pulling under walks or hazards that are less than 48" wide.I will be using to drill 1" hole to sink 7/8" diameter sensors into my orchard 30" deep in the soil to monitor the moisture level.

Worked great.
Used this to run low voltage landscape lighting wire under a sidewalk. Worked fantastic, wouldn’t have been possible otherwise.

DID THE JOB!
Worked perfect for running low voltage wires under my 60” wide sidewalk.

Wonderful product, worked better than expected
I was very impressed with this auger and the extension I got. I ran a 9’ hole under my driveway and pounded through PVC to follow. In the photo a drilled towards to hole, not from it like the bit is laying. My biggest fear was losing the bit off the extension while digging, but the set screws held it on great and I was able to be very aggressive with drilling. Full speed while pushing and pulling with no problems. The bit and extension were packaged really well too, triangular boxes to avoid bending.I will say that you need a pretty roomy access pit behind your hole’s path to flex enough and avoid a diagonal downward hole (if you’re trying to drill horizontally). I used a laser level to line up my bit, and a board with weights to counter flex the bit and I ended up within 3/4” of where I wanted my hole. I didn’t put as much effort into my first try and my hole was probably 4 or 5 feet deep by the time I tried to run 9’ horizontally.

Saved me big $$. Dug under Sidewalk for Landscape lighting wiring
This extended digging bit and rod was great! I needed to dig under a wide sidewalk to fish landscape lighting wiring under it and this was JUST long enough to do the job. It dug REALLY well and had no problem being used with a cheap Menards 18v drill. Came VERY well packed, I actually was like "what the hell did I order that was THIS long, when it showed up" : P Very professionally packaged and am glad I could support a product made in the USA. Saved me tons of $$ that I'm sure a landscaper would of charged to dig under the sidewalk.Tip, use some small strips of Gorilla tape, or something similar, to secure your wire to the pole/head once you've threaded it into the provided tip hole. This really secures the wire if you hit a snag pulling it back or are afraid of it slipping loose. Also, and I learned this the hard way, don't run your drill backwards when pulling your wire back, I'm sure that is obviously to most people but I was a dummy. Only took me once to learn though ;)

Worked great in clay
This bit bored right through our Missouri clay and actually went through some small roots and gravel in the dirt. It flexes alot in order to get it going horizontally and then it just follows it's own path. Just barely big enough to force a 1/2" plastic conduit through it (with some help from a sledge hammer and wood block). Worth the cost for the work it saved me. I used a 1/2" electric drill rather than a battery drill and it's power made a difference.

Great Option for Running Wire Under Walk
Upon starting up my irrigation system this spring, a breaker kept tripping for the 240V circuit that feeds the well pump. The issue started last fall when the lawn care company ran a large aeration machine on the grass (and damaged the 12/2 underground cable that wasn't buried deep enough). Of course this line runs under a newly installed paver walkway / patio and 200 feet out and under the lawn to the irrigation well.I took a shot using this 3/4 X 72" bit in hopes of not having to rip up the new pavers. Of course I had to dig a deep (24") hole on either side of the walk. Our property is near the Rehoboth Bay, so our lot is quite sandy. The bit went right through (from hole to hole and under the walk) and I needed every inch of it's length. One caution though as others have said it takes a powerful (corded) drill (I used a Milwaukee Magnum. My 20V cordless drill was not near enough torque to power through. Worth the money even if it's a one time use.

Permanent bends in the 1/4 inch shaft
Bends too much (permanently) when it hits any rocks in the dirt. The shaft, perhaps too thin for a 72-inch length, is subject to distortion. I have used both the 1 inch and the 3/4 inch dirt augers with limited success. I was drilling underneath a concrete walkway, and both augers jammed and were VERY difficult to free.
