Priddy Books Hello Baby: Faces

Ugh I hate this book. I didn't know it would be so intensely gendered. Not sure why that's necessary in today's world! Boys and girls and women and men and grandpas and grandmas can look lots of different ways. I like the last few pages about emotions or types/length of hair or accessories (hat, glasses) and I guess I assumed more of the book would be about that. But the gendered pages are so ridiculous and ruin the book in my opinion. I pretty much never read it or present it to my baby, except for the last few pages from time to time. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone unless gender stereotypes are really important to you to pass down to your child.

I have the Hello Baby Animals book and my 4 month old loves it. I thought this would be similar but as some people have pointed out the faces are too simple. Additionally the book is very gendered with things like "boy/girl", "long hair/short hair." That in itself is not a deal breaker, but isn't my personal favourite. I'd recommend buying the Animals one over this one.

It’s okay. Kind of not what I thought it would be. My children like it but I’d rather it be purely faces of emotion. There’s only happy and sad in the book. The rest is just odd. Hat and glasses, grandfather and grandmother, short hair long hair? Maybe I’m missing the point but I feel like explaining that to a one year old is not only confusing but just should have been more congruent.

Por el título esperaba rostros variados (en cuestión de rasgos y formas), pero en cambio presentan dúos como mujer/hombre, abuelo/abuela, cabello rizado/cabello lacio, bebé dormido/bebé despierto, etcétera. No está mal, los dibujos están lindos y a mi bebé parece gustarle, que al final es lo que importa.

Wish the features of the faces were a little larger. At this point with my newborn it is just something for her to look at. And she is looking at it.
