Initially this set has promises
My education concerning edge tools such as cabinet scrapers and hand planes commenced through the guidance of a Swiss descendant. First: is these are edge tools. Second: there are different types of hand tools for quite different purposes other than furniture scrapers. Third: This type of scraper develops a micro-scoptic curled cutting edge. This obtained by 1) filing an edge 90 degrees to the sides, 2) honing that edge with a fine grit sharpening stone, 3) preferably hold the scraper in a vice while firmly holding a burnishing tool at a consistent angle of about downward 25-30 deg referencing from the 90 deg edge and pull the burnishing tool towards yourself in one long continuance stroke. This should produce a tiny razor sharp curled cutting edge. Different species of wood, grain, density, curing, react differently. Soft density woodsare difficult in that the pressure of the scraper during the pull will crush the grain rather than shear the wood. Properly done, this produces a finish (a clarity or widow) into the character of the wood. I have found that this can be approached with stages of abrasive sanding, but in my opinion not at the same quality level that these scrapers can produce. Wood prepared in this manner and effort invite penetrating polymerizing oils. One other note about these tools. The steel must be of the proper toughness. malleability, hardening.

Great scrapers
This scraper set is made in the USA from quality materials and very well made by a small company that is very concerned about quality. As a longtime woodworker who has used a number of different brands of scrapers, I highly recommend them.

An elegant tool for a more civilized age
I love the surface these cabinet scrapers put on my projects. I am at best a novice woodworker/carpenter, as I do it more as a hobbyist than as a professional.Unfortunately, the surface of my flat scraper started to rust very soon after I first started using it. I'm sure it was a combination of my sweat and natural oils, but I don't think the scrapers came with any care instructions. That said, a little surface oxidization has not adversely affected the performance of the scrapers, and I still achieve a glass-like finish on handrails, bookshelves, etc.I would buy these again (though I doubt I'll ever have to), but I would try harder to take better care of them and clean off my fingerprints.(By the way, you don't need a fancy burnisher. A simple screwdriver is enough to roll a burr onto the edge after flattening it with a file.)

Best quality card scrapers...
If you purchased the original card scraper from dfm, no review is necessary...purchase these and you will be happy. If you haven’t purchased any from dfm, these are thicker and hold an edge better than most scrapers out there. I’ve found it easy to raise a burr on these, and the burr lasts the entire project instead of wearing away before you’re done.

These are really great!
I never thought I needed card scrapers. Boy was I wrong. My recent goof up during a wood glue up resulted in the insides of a plywood cabinet with three large sections of dried up gllue which needed cleaning up. I thought about just sanding them down, but decided to give these a try. I am so glad I did. The scraper scraped off the glue smoothly and efficiently. After I was done, the surface of the cabinet was smooth and with absolutely no marring whatsoever. These scrapers are thick and hold their sharp edge well. I am going to order some more of these for my future goof ups!
