Animation Methods: The Only Book You'll Ever Need Paperback – October 1, 2012

It would be nice if one book had everything we ever needed to know about any given subject. Of course we all know this is impossible. Even the BIBLE doesn't` have everything we need to know about its subject matter. However, Animation Methods by David Rodrigueze has to be one of the most concise and comprehensive books concerning the 21st Century Animator. I recommend this book especially to any one new to the concepts of computer animation, as well as to any animator that may be in a rut with his or her animation techniques. If you are like me, self taught to the core, this book is for you. If you plan on going to an Animation University, then get this book and be ahead of the class. David proves to be a friend of the devoted, and passionate animator the world over. Once I picked the book up to read, I did not put it down until I was finished. Now I will read it a second time and actually work along with David and his downloadable files from his site. ENJOY! CG

If you want to learn how to do Animation in Maya and how things like the Graph and Trax editors work, this book is for you. The author explains everything so well that it is easy for anyone to pick up on. Not only did I understand how to do animations, but the tips and shortcuts were very useful. I recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn how to do Animation in Maya (which could be applied to any program).

The absolute best book to get for the beginning animator. Even if you have some time under your belt, David is a great instructor and nails it every time in this book. I couldn't stop reading. I read all 294 pages in one sitting. I need to go through and 're read it again tomorrow, but it is the best money I've spent in a long time. Thanks David!

The grammar in this is plain awful. The author tries to have a nice touch and friendly way with his sentences but it distracts from the overall purpose of the book!The information is there and I got some use out of it but really send it to an editor first!

I highly recommend this book to anyone, who wants to learn and apply the most commonly used principles in today's 3D animation industry. This book is concise and worth buying. I believe that the author deserves the best recognition for his work.

I can't say for sure it's all you'll ever need, but it should be one of the first books you read. If you want to be an animator, this book is a must, for your collection. Written in easy to understand terms, making the information easy to retain.

This book is totally awesome. It's something different then the other learning books. It's approach is sticking in your head, so you can remember things easier. It's funny and I learned a lot from it. I recommend it to anybody who want's to learn Animation Methods.

It's a good book for beginners, and there are some great tips. I hope it gets a bit better though, I'm half way through and haven't learned that much... I haven't tried the extra features yet (web links and stuff), as I am reading it on the train on my way to work... I have worked on a couple of features, shorts and games, so it really isn't targeted at me, but I still think I could learn something from it... the quality of the book itself is a bit disappointing, it started looking worn after only one trip in my bag, so I feel it is a little expensive, on the other hand it is a small market book, so perhaps it's fine... As you can perhaps tell I am a little indecisive... and to where I am in the book now I give it three stars; the fourth star is for what I hope the rest of the book is and for the fact that is really isn't directed at me, and therefor I should give it the benefit of the doubt...

Gran libro para quienes estan aprendiendo. Tengo los dos libros de este autor: el de animacion y el de rigging y ambos son muy buenos.En este libro explican paso a paso y te llevan desde cero a realizar tus primeras animaciones. Si sigues las instrucciones vas a estar animando al finalizar el libro. A partir de alli, lo que queda es practicar y mejorar.El envio rapido y sin problemas.

It's seldom you find a book that boasts "The Only Book You'll Ever Need" (on animation) and actually lives up to it. Mr. Rodriguez guides you through this maze of information in a very down to earth and yet effective way. Now all I need a similar book on rigging.

Definitely worthwhile- very concise but going into the details on every topic (except rigging- that's in his next book). Compliments watching his videos on youtube.
