I bought this as an adult looking to refresh my math skills for fun. What a great book! It does a fantastic job explaining key concepts & providing helpful tips. Some of the problem-solving techniques were different than how I once learned them & much more useful. I wish I would've had this book when I was in the 7th/8th/9th grades.

My grandson went into 6th grade this year and was not only put into a 7th grade math course. , but an excelerated class on top of that. Whee! Since it has been a few years since I was in a math class, and not a stellar student anyway, this book has been a great resource. His teachers are wonderful, but sometimes you need a different way of seeing the same thing. This has provided that bit of extra explanation that he has needed at times. Would recommend.

I gave it four stars because, at more than 600 pages, completing it requires a significant investment of time and a great deal of self-discipline. It is not a quick study guide, but readers who are willing to work through it consistently will find it extremely useful. Overall, it is a thorough and valuable learning tool for anyone serious about mastering pre-algebra and Algebra 1.

This book has been incredibly helpful for my child. Well written, easy to read. Sadly doesn't include the last 2 years of high school if you choose a science or math section, but still good value overall. I wish the font they used didn't make 1 and 7 look so similar.

i love this series of book's, My only issue is that there arent enough of them; they dont have algebra 2, calculus, physics, trigonometry, etc. These books generally have everything you'll need to grasp the basics and build a solid foundation to move onto harder topics. The explanations are clear and concise, the topics gradually build on the previous ones, the diagrams are very easy on the eyes and the quality of the books themselves is nice but the cover is a bit flimsy and can crease. The book itself is a bit light on questions and doesn't cover all of algebra 1 (and has zero trigonometry) but no book is perfect and for the price of this book, you can't go wrong.
