BARSKA Loaded Gear HD-100 Hard Case, Black, Medium

The hard case is of excellent quality. Very sturdy including the hinge and generous size handle. Inner dimensions advertised are accurate (includes depth of cover). So why only a 3 rating? The product description states: "Cut Out Foam. The Loaded Gear HD-100 hard case includes two layers of pre-perforated cubed foam that can be customized to fit any shape". Ignoring the 1/4" layer of foam in the cover, there are two other layers, only 1 of which is perforated for customization. Also, the perforated layer is only 3/4" thick. The second layer of foam is a single, non-perforated egg crate style foam that's about 1.5" thick; that's what you see in the photo shown on Amazon. So unless you're storing something 3/4" or less for which you want customization, you'll need to cut into the single piece egg crate foam. Not the end of the world, but it would be a much better product if it had 3 layers of perforated 3/4" thick foam. One other point, not a show stopper but information for consideration. The product description states "Water tight protective case seal", however the tag attached to the product as received says "water resistant hard case". The seal looks fairly robust, but even with the purge valve closed, I'd avoid excessive exposure to water. Overall a nice case and I would buy it again if I had another application, but the foam configuration makes customization unnecessarily inconvenient, especially if you need only partial depth in the one piece layer.

I like the case, I haven't dunked it in water to actually make sure its waterproof, but it seals very well. Its a little smaller than I thought it would be, and I guess I shouldn't knock off a star because of my expectations, but you might be able to store a small camera or and iphone, and that would be about it. So, as long as you know that it is quite small, then you are ok.

What can i say it works like it is suppose to do. No government jobs here.
