To select the appropriate size for your pet, measure the widest area of your pet and add a minimum of 1". This will be the minimum width required for your pet. Measure the highest area of your pet at the shoulders and record this dimension. Measure your pet at the lowest point of their belly and subtract this dimension from the height. Add 3" to this dimension and this will be the minimum height required for your pet. If your pet is still growing, remember to consider the size of the breed when full grown.

seems like a good, sturdy, locking dog door
I had a few requirements when looking for a dog door: 1) it had to lock... i was amazed how few options there were! This one provides 2 locks. 1, for a day to day basis- you turn the knob on the bottom right and it locks the flap in place. Not the greatest security, but it should keep our dog from coming in when we don't want her to. For higher security, you can screw a steel plate (included) to the front. A little more of a hassle to screw in, but will probably do it for when we go out of town. 2) we didn't want it too much bigger than our dog - she's 65 lbs but lean. This satisfied both and looks nice! Haven't tested it with our dog yet to see how she handles it (the panel is a little heavy/harder to push), but will update when we do!

Heavy duty dog door. Going from hale small dog door double flap to this single metal panel door has been a big change for my dog. Its a heavier door and metal on the bottom is slippery (no room for carpet). Install took a while quite a few pieces to put together and a 2x4 was in the way under a window in wall mount. Not completely sealed see picture. Will update at later time on weather resistance. After completely installed and sealed the screw for the lock came out and fell apart so cant use (make sure to tighten completely before completing install).

had it for almost 2 years and my dog has not broken it like the plastic flap ones. only problem there is nothing holding it shut except the weather strip around the door so the wind can blow it open. 4 stars because i will never need to replace it.
