Yes it is for the Savage 340 rifle.

Does this mount in the 2 pre drilled rearward holes on the left side of the receiver on a savage 340 30-30?

Yes. My 340 is drilled for the factory side mount as well as the receiver sight . The scope mount uses all but the two rear holes and the receiver sight fits in those . Because of the way the Williams sight is built both can be mounted at the same time . Not all were so drilled , some only had the two that are just forward of the rear of the action , this sight fits either .

Perfect fit for my 30-30 bolt action.

Great field of view and plenty of adjustment

Installed on my Savage 340C 30-30. The installation was a breeze and I didn't have to change the factory front sight. This is a huge improvement over the barrel mounted rear sight, with which I was hitting 10" low at 20 yards. Great field of view and plenty of adjustment.
