Yellowhammer carving tools exceeded my expectations.
I was told that yellowhammer carving tools are mid level tool mostly used by hobbyist and beginners. But I found that the quality far exceeded what I was told. The tools came with a sharp factory edge, after touching them up they were razor sharp and cut like butter. And the shape of the handle is comfortable and easy to grip. I recommend yellowhammer carving tools to anyone looking for good quality tools at an amazing price!

not sharp
Update: looking at these through a magnifier shows REALLY bad edges. Not worth my time to realign and then sharpen. Too bad as I wanted to like these.These just arrived and I have yet to use them. The quality seems nice, not a pfeil, but decent with a bit more weight in the handle, which I like. However, out of the box the word 'dull' does not even begin to describe them. These are more like the safety scissor version. As a wood carver I knew that I'd need to sharpen them, but this is pretty bad. I'm still going to put the effort in to make them razor sharp because I think the quality of the tool might be worth it. We'll see.

Comparable to Schaaf set
Pretty comparable to the Schaaf set. I am a complete novice and I bought both for comparison. I have an admittedly untrained eye, but the quality seemed to be pretty close. I chose to go with the Schaaf, though, because the handles had a heavier weight that I liked the feel of. Not a bad alternative if you are looking to save money. The case is not good, though - the tools all fall out of place and rattle around.

Well made, but not ready out of box, One gouge damaged
Good - They are surprisingly well made for the price, The case and blade covers are a nice feature.Bad - The are not ready to use out of the box. They need at the minimum a final polish or stropping to actually be sharp enough to use. Not really a bad thing, but you are not told this up front and the polishing can take several hours to get them right.The #12-6mm V gouge had a lopsided blade where one part of the V was way thicker than the other which would cause it to cut unevenly, if you could sharpen it. I would have sent it back, but tried to fix it myself. Bad idea, as I made it worse.If this gouge would have been correct, I would give this kit a 4 stars, even with having to polish the blades.Hope t his helps

Not worth the money
Like many have said about cheap chisels, (and these weren’t as cheap as others), they need a lot of sharpening and many of them were misshapen so that need to be reground.

el estuche no es el mejor terminado pero cumple su funcion
la calidad de los materiales de elaboración van de acuerdo a el precio los terminados pueden mejorar pero si cumplen con la tarea lo que si se debe tomar en cuenta es que se tendrá que dedicar un tiempo al afilado de las herramientas pues los angulos que tienen los filos de fabrica les falta inclinación las empleo para elaborar tallas artesanales en madera y funciona muy bien despues de un buen afilado
