Where did that saying come from? What's a spanner? Why was it thrown into the works?
This is a fun and interesting trip into the new and old English sayings. It is super well-organized giving you several versions of common and not-so-common idioms. When known, it also supplies their origins. It is keeping my hubby busy for hours =;-)

Meticulously categorised
This book is incredible. Every single idiom is categorised according to the principal word in it. For e.g. If you want an idiom which has the word 'health' in it, you can go under the category 'health' to find all thr idioms having this word in it.The examples are easy to understand. The most amazing part of the book is a long list of idioms sorted according to themes like 'happiness', 'sports', 'love', and so on in the final pages of the book.If you are looking for a particular idiom according to a specific theme, you can refer to this beautiful list.Great job by Oxford!

Redewendungen sind sprachliche Bilder
Redewendungen sind sprachliche Bilder, die mehr als Worte ausdrücken und eine Weisheit auf den Punkt bringen, machen eine Unterredung in Englisch deutlich interessanter und bunter - Idioms are linguistic images that express more than words and get to the heart of a piece of wisdom, making a conversation in English much more interesting and colorful
