Elegant everyday carry pocket knife. Not so much a multitool with the Swiss Army look you love.
Wonderful Swiss Army knife. Not really bulky and simple. If you just want more of a pocket knife and not a multitool, this offers an elegant option that is reasonably priced and good quality. Made for everyday carrying. I use it in rotation with my old timer. I only wish Victorinox hadn't discontinued the Excelsior model. The Bantam model is a good substitute though for the Excelsior. It just a bit bigger/chunkier.

Love my Bantam
I wanted to get an EDC knife that didn't make my coworkers nervous. You know that look you get when you open a lock-blade in an office setting, well, I didn't want that anymore. I am becoming self conscious of pocket knife etiquette. This little guy is the perfect office knife. It's bigger than the standard SAK but not at all intimidating. Very light and thin but still is setup with eight tools. I put a hanging clip on it's ring and it now resides in my breast pocket at work every day. I can't remember the last time I went a day without using it. Granted, I'm not talking about building a shelter with it or cutting and splitting a cord of wood with it. I'm talking about everyday office/home tasks. Opening packages, opening a beer, getting that damn piece of peanut from between your teeth, tightening that loose latch screw you keep noticing but never grab a screwdriver to fix. The list goes on. I just love the fact that it's right there whenever I need it. And at this price, it's a no-brainer. WARNING- This is a gateway knife! If this ends up being your first Swiss Army Knife, it will NOT be your last!!

Excellent Key Chain Knife
Iโm an old Case knife collector. Iโve handled hundreds of knives over the years. The good, the bad, and the ugly. This is a good one. I stopped carrying a pocket knife years ago. Didnโt really need one anymore, plus just the times weโre in, why add a headache? But recently I wanted to open some packages at my church, and wished I had my old trusty EDC at hand. So I decided to compromise, and just get a small knife I could put on my keychain. Enter the Victorinox Bantam. At just over 3 inches closed, itโs the perfect length between form and function. It has a very usable wide, 2 1/4 inch long blade. Suitable for most light duty applications. It opens firmly in place and folds with a good snap. The bottle opener/screwdriver has a firm half stop that I wasnโt expecting. The main blade does not. I may or may not get around to using the small tweezers and toothpick, but would it be a Swiss Army knife without them? All in all, for the very reasonable purchase price, this offering (from the legendary company Victorinox) is the deal of the century. Take it from an old knife collector, you wonโt be disappointed.

Makes a great gift
I purchased this as a gift for a friend who does not own a pocket knife. I personally feel like it makes a great gift and is a nice tool for anyone to carry.

I will probably always own a bantam or have one at arms reach
It's hard to find fault with the Bantam as an EDC knife. Sure, it's not the most exotic steel or has some silky deployment...it's a basic, no nonsense very handy pocket knife that puts a smile on everyone's face that sees it. I never have to worry about people's reaction to the Bantam...if anything, they are drawn to it's diminutive but familiar Swiss Army knife appearance and memories of the one they or a family member had. On the downside, it feels like an inexpensive knife; but hey, that's exactly what it is. The multi-tool/cap lifter is of dubious utility. It'll turn a screw in a pinch but it's not an adequate replacement for a screw driver (or even SAK w/ those functions). The inox steel won't hold an edge for long with the frequent use it will see...but it's easily sharpened back to a keen edge. The blade length, thickness and shape are perfectly suited for the every day tasks of life like slicing food &opening boxes. It's also so light that it never feels bulky in your pocket. It's also the perfect knife to give to the people you come across in life who have never owned or thought about a pocket knife....think of it as the bic lighter of EDC knives. I've gone through several Bantams and always wind up with a replacement in short order.

Old time quality steel and fine hand finishing
These days, most of the recognized German pocketknife makers are sending their steel to China and letting contractors there make their knives. This Swiss knife maker is still making their knives in Switzerland, keeping production at home, something that other manufacturers stopped doing a while ago. I have one of these pocketknives, formerly called the officer's model, which I have been using as a vest pocket knife for about 35 years, replacing them as they get lost or stolen, and the quality has remained the same. All of my good old German pocketknives are in a collection now, models that have never been carried or sharpened to remain mint, and now I'm putting one of these in the collection, making it the first non-German piece in the collection. What China-made pocketknives lack is the fine finish and the tightness of joints, what pocketknife collectors refer to the "walk and talk snap" of a perfectly fitted knife with just the right basckspring strength. This Victorinox has that walk & talk snap still. I admire these knives.

It's a Victorinox what more to say!!!
It's a Victorinox what more to say!!! I really like the Bantam for its simplicity and size in the pocket. I have the same knife with Alox scales and love it. I purchased this standard in red for a gift.. The Alox is thinner, doesn't have the tooth pick, tweezers or lanyard ring. I really miss the lanyard ring in the Alox. Also I think the combo bottle open/can opener on the Bantam is superior to the separate bottle opener and can opener on all other Victorinox knives. They did sen me the wrong knife the first go round. But this review is about the knife not the screw up in shipping.

Go for it
Is the cheapest victorinox out there, and definitely doesn't disappoint, can be a little big for a keychain, I think classic SD is more suited for that, but its a great starter EDC.
