Agar-Agar Jelly Candy, 4.5 oz. 2 pack

We used to get a box of these every year at Christmas, but for the past decade or so haven't been able to find it at Japanese stores, so glad to find it here on Amazon.The flavor was exactly as I remembered, and surprisingly the candy wasn't sticky and the rice paper was still in tact. I expected it to have melted during shipping since we live in Hawaii, but it held up fine.For people who haven't had this sort of jelly candy, it's sort of like a softer Gummi bear; it feels just as firm as a Gummi, but your teeth will go through it a little easier. For those who haven't had rice paper, you'll open the initial plastic wrapper and find another wrapper adhered to the candy, but it is edible and meant to be eaten with it, do not attempt to peel it off (just wastes time and gets sticky). There are many other candies we have that are wrapped with rice paper to keep it from being sticky, similar to coating mochi (rice cake) with potato or soy starch. The rice paper will immediately melt in your mouth. The flavor of these jellies are sweet but not overwhelming and they do not have an artificial taste or aftertaste to them.

Each candy is kind of big wich is a good thing they are yummy the green one was my favorite i think is melon:)

Yum. I had been looking for this for my niece and was pleased to find it on Amazon. There are about 10 pieces in every bag, so it is a bit pricey, but for free shipping and the scarcity of this product, it is worth it. Note that the description says, Strawberry even though the picture shows assorted flavors. The description is accurate. All of the pieces are strawberry flavored. I also ordered another brand but it has not yet arrived.

The candies are ok, very subtle flavors... But disappointed to get so few candies per pack. Will look for other options.

After writing a one star review due to thinking that the candies were wrapped in thin plastic, my wife figured out that it was just thin gelatin that allows you to handle the candy without getting sticky. Please ignore my earlier review......this is the first time I have ever seen them wrapped like this. Also, my apologies for the misinformation. The product is excellent and we will buy again!

The plastic adhered to the candy and made it inedible. The piece we did try was flavorless. I would not purchase this jelly candy again.

This is a guilty treat for me and I love it. My grandmother used to give me a very similar candy from Japan when I was young and it brings back happy memories when I eat it. Compared to American candies it's pricey but I am very glad to have found it online. Sometimes you can buy happiness.

At $13 a bag with only 8 pieces in a bag, not the best value. Last I had Agar fruit candy it was much more flavorful & supple. This stuff all tasted the same and some pieces were just dried & stiff.Even bought it again to give it another chance. Disappointed
