Exactly what I wanted. Sturdy, well finished, and easy to move.
The build quality and design is not high enough that you might mistake it for handmade, and the keyboard tray has a piece on the front jutting out above the surface of the tray making it unusable, but it fits my needs exactly and well beyond my expectation for such an inexpensive piece of furniture. Often when buying furniture, you have to choose between a flimsy thing held together with wood screws into end grain, made with wood so low quality that half the screws strip out when you assemble it, and some over-100lb hunk of wood that takes 2 or more people to move and cannot be disassembled as it is held together entirely by wood glue. This piece strikes a perfect compromise, as it uses quality wood, has a nice low gloss satin lacquer finish, and uses strong and easy to disassemble fasteners(hardened bolts and threaded metal inserts attaching the legs), while being light enough for one person to move. I was able to get it up 4 flights of stairs quite easily on my own in two trips, one for the top and one for the legs+keyboard tray. The top is only maybe 35lbs and the legs are maybe 20lbs combined at most. Personally, the only things that could be improved would be if the top were deeper, at least 30", and if the keyboard tray were replaced with either something sturdier and more useful to keep a mouse and keyboard on, or just with a drawer. I have to use the top for my keyboard and mouse but it's just barely deep enough to do that and support my wrists. You might be able to mount your monitor to the back of it instead to allow for use of the entire top, which would probably be the ideal use case. The back of the top is about 1" thick and plenty sturdy for mounting a monitor. The lip around the edge of the top isn't deep enough(~1.625") for a monitor mount though, so make sure you get one that can screw straight into the back panel with enough space from the arm to account for the lip if you want to do that.

Nice-looking inexpensive practical desk made of REAL WOOD!
As I've said in another review, these Winsome furniture pieces are excellent value for the money--you're paying the same price as an Ik*a piece, but you're getting something made of real wood. Yes, as some reviewers have mentioned, the wood may occasionally have knots or other irregularities, but that's natural in real wood. It was relatively easy to assemble: the legs need to be attached (by 2 screw bolts apiece) into the top, and the keyboard drawer knob needs to be attached by a screw. I would say it took me about 45 minutes to assemble using the small pitiful wrench provided; if I owned a better wrench, I probably could have done the job in 15 minutes. I should say that I also bought the Winsome Wood Printer Stand, and these 2 pieces of furniture are very practical, give a large surface area for doing work, and make a nice matched set at a very reasonable price. I've only had the 2 items for a month or so, and can't comment on their long-term sturdiness, but based on their overall construction I'm sure they'll give good value for the money. Hey, if you want something that can be passed down to your great-grandchildren, maybe buy something for 5x the price from P*t*ry B*rn, but for the price, this is a good piece of REAL WOOD furniture (from Thailand). One problem I've had (which isn't enough to drop my rating from 5 stars) is that the keyboard 'drawer' front doesn't stay closed--the magnets that are supposed to hold it closed (as in the picture) don't make proper contact with the metal 'plate'. This is something that I'm trying to figure out how best to solve, but it doesn't detract significantly from my pleasure at having this desk in REAL WOOD at such a reasonable price.

Excellent value for money
We received this table last night and had it assembled and put into use in about 20 minutes. Here is a quick summary of our findings: POSITIVE - Despite what some other reviews indicated, the packaging was excellent and the table arrived without any damage. The corners were protected by wooden blocks and there was enough styrofoam and plastic sheeting to protect the exposed surfaces properly. - The table was very easy to put together - Just two nuts per leg using the included spanner. Note you will need to provide your own Philips-head screwdriver to install the knob on the keyboard tray cover door. - The assembled table is tight and stable - no squeaks or ill-fitting parts (except for a few things listed below) - The assembled table looks great and generally the finish is good - excellent value! NO-SO-POSITIVE - While the tabletop was generally ok, I noticed there were several areas where wood filler was used to fill out blemishes that might have been in the wood to begin with or added during the manufacturing process. I don't mind the occasional spot of filler, but in this case at least 5% of the surface was filler and that too in a mis-matched color so it stood out. More attention could have been paid to minimizing the need for filler or at least using one that works with overall grain. I should point out that once you have your monitor and other stuff on your table-top, the fillers don't stand out as much. - More attention could have been paid to the finish of surfaces not visible on the outside - for instance the drilled holes underneath had all kinds of burrs and chips that could have been sanded away very easily. There were also a few splinters along the bottom edges that you'll have to watch out for when you assemble the table. - The keyboard tray could have been put together with a little more attention to detail - the track is a little mismatched, so the tray is wobbly when it is all the way in. So while it works fine when it is all the way out, it takes a little extra effort to pull it out initially. I would have been happy to pay an extra $20 to have these blemishes sanded/filed away - just putting that out there in case the manufacturer is listening. Overall I'd highly recommend this as a no-fuss computer table as long as the dimensions (height) work for you. We use it for a 27" Apple LED monitor as well as a few books and things and it works well and looks great.

Some Days You Lose & Some Days You Winsome
This table works great and is made of real wood. None of that fake cheap BS: chip board, laminate, veneer, wood composites, high density and medium density fiber board (MDF), and particle board. The table is made of 12" long x 2.5" wide wood pieces finger joined and glued together to form one solid table top piece. Think of a wood butcher block, but longer and wider and that is this table. Has a nice honey gold finish, which I like for making small rooms appear larger than they are. I don't understand why people buy dark stained wood. Are they crazy? Why make your room feel cramped? World Market has a similar table, but their prices are higher and I have to haul their table home in my car. Therefore, I ended up ordering the table online with my Prime card, since they ship direct to my house. The table shipped in a decent padded box with all the hardware included. I think the manufacturer uses strategic cardboard padding to prevent damage, because they know UPS brown will handle their box real gentle like a wrestling match. I didn't use the flat provided wrench for assembly. Jesus, that would have taken forever to assemble using that thing. I have my own wrench and socket set that I used, which makes installation so much easier. Everything assembled easily using the pictograph directions and the drawer cover opens and closes easily. I dressed up the table a little by throwing away the wood knob and buying a nice silver knob from the home box store. If your floors are uneven you may have to stick a wood or plastic wedge under one of the legs to keep wobble to a minimum, but the table is really stable with no wobble, since my floors are flat like Kansas.

Beautiful, but small
This is a gorgeous piece of furniture. The desk is much smaller than I would like, so I bought two of them and I am using them back to back. That works pretty well, and the price for two is still pretty reasonable. The desk comes nearly completely assembled. All you have to do is to screw on the legs using the bolts and wrench provided. If you have a ratchet socket wrench, the assembly will go a bit easier. It took me about 20 minutes to put together. The result is very sturdy. The finish is beautiful, a golden honey color. First class. It's made of hardwood, with multiple lengths of wood securely glued together -- sort of like a butcher block. There are some visible joins in these lengths of wood -- if you're not too picky about this, it's just fine. Likewise, there are some joins in some of the legs. Both desks I ordered had joins in two of the legs, and no joins in the other two. So I put the better legs on the front. But I don't want to give you the idea that these joins are very bad, and they don't affect the strength of the desk. The desk when it's all assembled is really very nice. The keyboard drawer is much higher quality than I expected. It's also very nice, and at just the right height. There's a moderate odor coming from the finish when first unpacked, but this has dissipated after a day. All in all, I couldn't be happier, and I would rate this 6 stars if that were possible.

Terrific value and looks for the money!
I had gotten a Stone and Beam desk which costs much more and is about the same size and it was a ginormous pain to assemble... and it didn't look nearly as good and was not nearly as sturdy -- either painted all white or all black. This was a piece of cake to assemble -- it was extremely well packed so not a scratch on it. -- Screw on the legs. (use your own socket wrench and it will be much much easier!) -- Unscrew the keyboard tray (you'll need your own Phillips head screwdriver) -- Screw on the knob of the keyboard tray cover -- Slide in the keyboard tray I love the natural wood finish -- it matches a traditional decor but has nice clean lines so if you have a more modern look, it will still work. If you get tired of the wood finish, you could easily use chalk paint and make this into a shabby chic distressed look. It is very solid when you stand it up -- no wobble at all. This is perfect for a home office workspace -- for kids or adults. It is small enough to fit into compact spaces but large enough to provide a good sized work surface. It would easily support dual monitors or one large monitor (if you have an all-in-one) desktop/gaming PC. I'm very happy and can't recommend this enough! [LCAR]

Beautiful wood but product is cheaply made
I chose to purchase this desk because it was simple in design, fit the dimensions I needed, and was wood. The wood is very beautiful though I question whether it was sustainably harvested. The finish is a nice color, though there are imperfections along the desktop, marring etc but nothing serious. The desk was easy to assemble. It isn't very well made, though is sturdy enough for my purposes. The base of the drawer area was fastened in places with staples that were too short for the job, so the base was detached on one side on arrival. We had to remove the staples, and drill screw holes and use screws and wood glue to fasten the base. The pulldown front of the drawer scraped the bottom of the pullout keyboard tray, so we had to raise the keyboard tray to create additional clearance. These were simple fixes for us to make, though if you don't have the tools, skills, etc. the pullout keyboard tray might not be functional once assembled. The price was reasonable considering that the desk is made of wood, and I don't regret purchasing it. The box WAS damaged, as others reported, but the packaging of the desk parts was good, so the desk itself wasn't damaged.

This desk requires a trip to the hardware store!
I'm sure this desk looks beautiful and appears to have solid wood construction (the main desk piece is quite heavy!). However, to those of you considering purchasing this desk, you will probably need to factor in a trip to your local hardware store in order to actually assemble this item. When I opened the package and removed the box with the miscellaneous fasteners, knobs, etc., I noticed that the contents of the box did not even come close to matching the parts list on the instruction manual. What I received was an odd amalgamation of coarse threaded 1.5" long Allen screws, Phillips head screws of various sizes, and a random pack of wooden dowel stubs that go to nothing. Since neither the manufacturer nor Amazon could be bothered to give me the correct fasteners required for this project (and I now have the pieces of this desk occupying my living room floor), I cannot give any higher than a 1 star review. If I could give zero stars, I would! The manufacturer even sent along a request form to receive missing parts - I suspect that this is a common occurrence for them. I could return the whole desk, but that is quite a hassle to repackage all of those heavy pieces. Rather than leaving this mess for the next 7-14 days that it will take the manufacturer to send the required parts, I bought my own fasteners. FYI - To assemble the legs to the desk, you will need: eight (8) hex head bolts, eight (8) tension rings and eight (8) washers, according to the assembly instructions. During my trip to the hardware store, I discovered that the bolts are metric sized; I used M8-1.25 x 65mm long hex bolts to clear the gaps between the diagonal wooden mounting brackets in the corners and the position of the legs. I fastened in the bolts with lock washers (as tension rings) and flat washers and now everything is solidly assembled. My recommendations? Don't buy this desk. If you do, expect to have to make a visit to your hardware store. What should be a 10 minute project is now extended out to many hours just because of the extra shopping trip required. ETA: My original comment mentioned 3-1/2" bolts - that is an inch (25mm) too long. The bolt length I found worked best with the lock & flat washer combo was 65mm.

Beautiful furniture😘
This is a magnificent piece of furniture! Usually we see desks with wooden legs but a MDF top, or a wooden top with metal structure. But to find a desk in complete solid wood at an affordable price is very special! And the minimalist design is beautiful. Perfect and powerful stain and varnish. There is just one major problem, the wooden pieces holding the brackets for the keyboard tray are very week with small screws that are buried in wood. These brackets must be on a solid structure as the keyboard is one piece of solid wood, and heavy. If the brackets are even slightly off, the tray for the keyboard falls out. I had to wood glue mine. The total weight of the box with packing is 50lbs, so be prepared. Advice is two men to carry it, but assembly was so easy I did it alone:)

So happy with this! Could not be happier.
I don't often review my purchases, but I was so impressed with this desk. I didn't expect this level of quality (it's very sturdy and the finish is lovely), or even for it to be made of real wood. For the price, and in this day and age when most furniture is made of pressed-board, this is a real steal. I added my own knob to make it my own and absolutely love it!

satisfaisant

I Am Completely Thrilled!
A few days ago, the desk arrived in perfect condition. The honey finish is just lovely. This desk is all wood and very solid, well designed, finished, and well put together. Nothing tacky. No disappointment here. I am very pleased. The scale and detailing is appropriate. It was a delight to receive this desk with the computer drawer hardware already installed. Such a relief! The setup of the desk was so simple - basically attach the legs and the drawer knob - piece of cake! Moreover, I was so thankful to not see any black screws or anything thrown in that is black, which would have been utterly inconsistent with the design character. I was so impressed that I went to look for more furniture by the manufacturer, Winsome Wood, and found the matching bookcase, which I will order with complete confidence. Yes, indeed, a good purchase.

Good value for money
I think this desk is really good value for the price of $148. I had it shipped to Iqaluit, NU and given the free shipping, I consider it a really good deal. The desk is heavy and attractive, made of solid wood. I put it together myself in under an hour, following the clearly pictured instructions. The included wrench is OK but I used a proper wrench to tighten the tension grips nicely. The wood panels for the desk tray were loose but my husband tightened those for me and then the tray fit perfectly, sliding in and out with ease. The screw for the knob is a little short, I replaced it with a longer one which tightened the knob in place perfectly. The desk came with instructions for care - wood polish, no glass cleaner - which is what I would have used, actually - so I appreciated that. Desk looks pricier than it is. Nice. Thanks.
