A beautiful sounding instrument at an awesome price
This Glockenspiel IS NOT a toy. It produces an incredibly rich pure sound. It covers just over two chromatic octaves starting at G above middle C. The documentation is poorly written, as the translation from Korean is very bad. No serious assembly is required, though two of the strike bars are intentionally loose to store the mallets. Once you have them out, re-seating the pins is very easy. To get the best sound out of it, you'll need to use the three little extendable feet from the bottom of the blue case, and then seat the instrument on a sturdy (wooden, I recommend)table (meaning you'll want to play it standing up). I think that this instrument was originally created for children learning music as it can be played on one's lap, with a resulting sound quality hit. It comes with a sheet of decals meant to stick to the strike bars so as to label them "Do", "Re", "Mi", etc. along with the sharps.Music learning aside, this is a great sounding instrument. If you are a musician you will definitely want to add this to your instrument portfolio, it will add some very cool capability to your mixes for very little money. When correctly set up as stated above (it has slits in the bottom for the sound to reflect upwards from a hard surface creating a type of resonator effect), it produces a beautifully pure rich sound. Playing it is addictive. The pair of mallets that come with it are plastic. They do work, but you'll probably want to invest in a pair of wooden ones.A great deal, a beautiful sound, and quite unique. Get it!

Great little instrument!!!
Our ten year old had a nice glockenspiel rental from her school band. She wanted one to play at home over the summer that was lightweight but still a "real" instrument. This item fit the bill for her as it's incredibly light, very simple to take from place to place, and it's all contained inside of the carry case. The glockenspiel does not come out of the case. I thought this would be a problem , however it has turned out to be quite nice. The case has three small kickstand legs to let the sound resonate. Additionally, the lid acts at a music stand for any music she is practicing. Overall this is a great glockenspiel for all ages. I especially recommend this for kids 13 and under. one last side note, it came with two astic yellow mallets that work fine, but we are considering some wood and rubber mallets for different sounds!

Gives a nice, melodic sound
Gives a nice, melodic sound. The clasp on the case seems secure. The plastic beaters do store under the keys. While not too clear in the image provided, the keys are marked with each note, that shows up well in the real thing. There are stickers for Do, Re, Mi, but no directions as to which key corresponds to that. I looked it up, and apparently C is "Do", but apparently this can be a "sliding Do" according to a music site. Soooo, I'm just skipping the stickers.

Totally cool...
This product exceeded my expectations. I was craving an inexpensive glockenspiel to play around with - as I play around with a number of instruments without any exceptional talent. This one had some very good ratings but I still wondered if it could really be that good. It is. The tone is absolutely beautiful. Not a toy. An instrument.I thought the plastic mallets were fine when a sharp, bell-like sound is in order. I also decided to buy some rubber mallets for those occasions when a softer sound is desired.

Beautiful Sound
This Xylophone was given to my daughter because she uses one in school music class. It sounds very similar to the "professional" one used in school, and due to the octaves it reaches, almost any song can be played on it. The case is hard plastic and everything is contained within. It really sounds clear and is a decent price. It is not a toy, so I recommend it for someone who really wants to "respect" the instrument.

Good Quality Instrument
My 2 year old enjoys playing this instrument a few times a week. It encourages to further develop his interest in music. I'm glad I purchased this item and the price was reasonable for the quality.
