The ProRep Vivarium Door Rubber Wedges are essential security for your reptiles home. The Cage Door Rubber Wedge will prevent the animal pushing the door open (snakes especially are escape artists) and will prevent you accidentally opening the door. The vivarium wedge will also help you get into the routine of carefully shutting the door so it is not left ajar. The wedge should be placed gently between the sliding glass doors to hold them closed.Supplied in a pack of 6 Rubber Wedges.Suitable For: Vivariums and Terrariums with Sliding Doors Any Reptile or Amphibian Species

Simple and effective, long-term solution to prevent escapes!
If you're a reptile keeper, I find these ProRep rubber door wedges to be an absolute must-have. They are designed for use with vivariums and other enclosures which feature sliding glass doors. When the glass doors are in the closed position, this wedge can be inserted into the gap between the two panels, 'locking' them in place. Some species are well known for stunts that would make Houdini proud and sliding the glass panels open using their own body weight and persistence is just one example; I don't know about your creatures, but mine are true escape artists so the added security really does put my mind at ease. These rubber wedges are rigid yet soft enough to be mildly pliable and this means they slide in (and out) of any gap smoothly. The soft texture of the rubber also means these never scratch, scuff or otherwise mark the glass, an issue I have found with many other cage locks, plastic, rubber and metal alike. I find one per viavarium to be sufficient and have not noticed them to deteriorate in any way over time, even with regular, long term use (by this I mean removing and replacing the wedges a minimum of twice per day due to husbandry requirements.I have awarded this product a firm 5 stars and would most definitely recommend it to others. These are a simple, cost effective, long-term solution which I have found to pose absolutely no threat of damage or risk to the appearance or structural integrity of the vivarium over time. In addition to being the easist option in terms of quick and easy, tool-free installation, they are also discreet enough not to compromise your view of the animals in your care.A few words of warning::: if you are keeping reptiles within a public venue (show, pet shop etc), are in possession of aggressive/dangerous/venemous species or have children or other pets in or around your home, I would mostly definitely recommend a more substantial vivarium lock made from metal; the type that you are unable to open without a key or padlock combination. While these rubber wedges are sure to prevent the creatures within the vivarium from escaping, they would definitely not prevent anyone who shouldn't from gaining quick and easy access. These really are so easy to remove (from outside the vivarium, of course) that even a small child would have no struggle at all. Please also be aware that these came loose in an envelope and were not sealed and presented in the packaging as shown on the product images here on Amazon. I believe them to be an authentic ProRep product and this posed no issue for me, but I know potential purchasers may wish to be made aware of this, especially if their intention is to purchase these as a gift.If this review has been helpful to you, please take the time to rate it by clicking 'yes' below... Thanks in advance.QUICK UPDATE::: Months down the line, I stand by everything I stated above in my original review but have a few notes to add. I have had other keepers warn me that these can be extra pressure on the glass doors and if you have a particularly large, body heavy or aggressive species which strikes or leans on the glass, this can mean your glass doors are more likely to crack or shatter. I personally have never had this experience but am aware of it since being told. In addition, if you are using these to house geckos or similar, they do create a small gap that is sadly large enough to allow crickets to escape! One issue I have had is that this (or any cage lock) seems to create a small gap between the two panes at the centre point of cross over. I had one snake in particular who applied substantial pressure trying to squeeze his enormous body through this tiny 5mm gap to the point of injuring the bridge of his nose and causing quite a deep wound. If you have a snake that exhibits similar behaviour, I have found rubber or plastic car door lining applied to the glass edge to provide a simple and incredibly effective safety barrier which has prevented his escape attempts and allowed his poor nose to heal! Just a tip for fellow keepers who may experience something similar.

Great for my passenger side car window
These little rubber stops are perfect, I know they are supposed to be for reptile cages or glass thingymabobs but the passenger side front window of my car broke and after months of folded beer mats and balliff letters I decided to take action. Now a new electric window actuator plus fitting is around £150 but that is for a non OEM product and have been through 2 in 5 years."Buy cheap buy twice" anyway one drunken evening while surfing Amazon I happened upon these little rubber doorstops and an idea popped into my head. For under a tenner I could keep my balls warm as well as improve the security of my vehicle. Everyone knows that if you push against rubber the friction gets better especially with a wedge, So how about a wedge on both sides or even 5. Window stays up and no break ins. (Touch wood) Now for chip in the window screen

A little firmer than other types, not quite as good.
A little firmer plastic than the black ones I have purchased before, which makes them a little harder to push into the glass gap, can still get them in and they do the job, just have to take more time and make sure they're in right or they'll likely fall out.

Great Product
These are a great alternative to the standard vivarium locks which i never could get away with due to the fiddly nature... These wedges simply slide in the gap between the doors and keep them firmly closed. I have had others in the past where the rubber has broken down and deteriorated, but these door wedges have not shown any indication of doing the same so far...I personally find this product invaluable for keeping my snakes securely in their vivariums...

Would reccommend!
Really good alternative to a viv lock. Works brilliantly well for sliding glass doors and doesn’t affect the aesthetic massively. Would reccommend.

Bought originally to stop the glass sliding doors banging on the viv when my hedgehog was on his wheel, perfect for thatAlso great for my girly hedgehog who has turned out to be quite the escape artist, less faffy than a key lock!
