Okay, but buy Bitchin' or Spend the Night
This makes the 4th album that I have bought of the Donnas, and it is a toss up between this and Gold Medal over which album is in 4th place (although "you've got nothing on me" bears up to more repeat listens than any of the highlights on this album). They still have some pretentions to being punk (only twice in my recollection do the songs clock over 3 minutes - and one of those is the cover "Livin' after Midnight"). The highlights are "Livin' after midnight", "Do you wanna hit it?", and "Don't get me busted", I found much of the remainder to be listenable (even enjoyable) yet largely disposable. Bitchin' clearly is the number one of all of the Donnas albums. I have listened to Bitchin' at least once every other day since I've bought it...I hope they continue to do more like that one, as it is terrific road music.I don't think that I will delve any further into their earlier work, except what might exist on the upcomming "Best of" album.~~~~I'm revisiting my review after a few days of listening to the album, and the CD has grown on me. I'd change the number of stars if I could and say its at least 4 stars. I'd put it ahead of "Gold Medal" and tied for number two behing "Bitchin" it is pretty listenable and I've started to like it more and more.

My favorite girl rock band
Who is writing their new songs? They are much better than the old ones, which were boring, predictable and stupid. Now they are clever, good changes, and good riffs. Whoever cleaned these girls up did a good job....they sound great now and seem cooler than ever. MAYBE THEY GREW UP....BUT NOT TOO MUCH.

One of The Donnas BEST recordings! Man, I wish they'd release some new material!

Cool album.
This is when the Donnas were in their transition between punk and 70's rock, so it's most of the way to what you hear in "Spend the Night", but not quite there yet. Catchy and carefree, this is an easy listen.

VERY VERY SUPRISINGLY AMAZING ROCK N ROLL!
Like many of you rockers,at first I thought The Donnas were just another mtv band like sum 41 or linkin park who either played depressing whiner rock or anything else mtv's legions eat up these days. But could I have been any more wrong???These girls are an amazing rock band with lots of grit and raunch. What other girl group can cover tunes by Motley Crue,Judas Priest, and Alice Cooper without sounding forced? The songs on here are no-nonsense rockers with shredding guitars and head thrashing vocals.Definitely an album you can listen to without pressing the skip button. This is pure rock and roll the way it was meant to be played. The last time a band like this came around was back in 1976:The Runaways which included guitar goddess Lita Ford and the ever raunchy Joan Jett.I am a huge fan of rock and roll and these girls surpassed my expectations.Don't think Avril Lavinge or Sum 41.Instead think Motley Crue/ACDC/Kiss in one package mixed in with some small hints of The Ramones and The Runaways topped off with a very raunchy femme fatale filled attitude!I prefer this album along with Get Skintight and Spend The Night.(The Japanese issue of this album is worth the extra bucks because it is the only place you will find The Donnas' ear shattering cover of Alice Cooper's "School's Out")

Bitchin' is my favorite, but for this and Spend the Night are probably their purest rock albums
The Donnas were already an awesome band when they first entered the stage at their middle school talent show. I saw a film of it on YouTube. They lacked stage presence at that time, but it's hard to believe that now.On this album, it's almost like everything on it is a hit. The star of this album is definitely Allison Robertson. The four of them were definitely into the real guitar rock type of music. However, Maya Ford has a lot of great bass playing, Torry Castellano has a lot of great drumming, and Brett Anderson was a great vocalist. When I first heard this album, I heard it right after hearing Highway to Hell by AC/DC, and, believe it or not, I liked this one better. At that time, I was judging the music mainly just by the guitar playing, but the lyrics were very catchy, which is something that the Donnas have always done.If you don't buy this album, you'll be missing out on one of the greatest rock albums of all time.

Donnas - 'Turn 21' (Look Out Records)
Been so long since I listened to a CD the quintessential California '90's all-female punk sensation The Donnas. Tracks here that I couldn't get enough of are "Are You Gonna Move It For Me", the total ass-kicking "Do You Want To Hit It", the luring "40 Boys In 40 Nights" [a possibly anthem?], the rocking "Drivin' Thru My Heart", "Police Blitz" and the girl's well-done cover of the Judas priest classic "Living After Midnight". Ideal for old school fans and followers of the Runaways, Pandoras, The Ramones and maybe Kitty (as I finally got to see the long-running all-female metal band play some dive here recently). Other worthwhile CD's by The Donnas include 'Skin Tight' ('99), 'Spend The Night' ('02) and 'Gold Metal' ('04). Very good.

Not one to have
I think The Donnas have run out of steam and ideas. Whilst this is a raunchy release, it really does appear they are just going through the motions. This CD comes in at just over 36 minutes even though the total time is just over 40 minutes. What you get at the so called last track is silence then some weird sound at the end.

Okay but does not compare to their more recent material
I bought this after purchasing 'Spend the night' and 'Gold Medal'.I have to be honest, I was disappointed with the 'Turn 21' album, and found ita lot more raw than the other albums. It is all down to personal taste, but I played this album once or twice in the car and haven't touched it since.

Another brilliant album!
Slightly more raw than Bitchin' or Spend the Night, but excellent nevertheless. Very reminiscent of early AC/DC Great band and great album.

The Donnas Turn 21
