2016 release, the first album in four years from the legendary Portland quartet and first for Dine Alone Records. The Dandy Warhols are humorously known as America's Best Britpop Band. Features the single "You Are Killing Me." The album was mixed by Jim Lowe (Taylor Swift, Beyonce). The Dandy Warhols was formed in 1994 by singer-guitarist Courtney Taylor-Taylor and guitarist Peter Holmström. Keyboardist Zia McCabe and drummer Eric Hedford joined them. Hedford left in 1998 and was replaced by Taylor-Taylor's cousin Brent DeBoer. The band's name is a play on the name of American pop artist Andy Warhol. The band gained recognition after they were signed to Capitol Records and released their major label album debut,... The Dandy Warhols Come Down, in 1997.

DISTORTLAND IS QUITE MESMERIZING!!
THE DANDY WARHOLS "DISTORTLAND" is very enjoyable...from the first track "Search Party" to "Pope Reverend Jim" through the entire CD..."DISTORTLAND" doesn't disappoint!! I can best describe the music as a very high-grade blending of a sort of ethereal canopy wafting over a somewhat pop/rock/punk/indie. blend vaguely touching upon shoegaze, too, but just on about 3 tracks. Truly Unique!!I believe I may have read about THE DANDY WARHOLS in another customer's review of one of Spoon's CD's. And, I am glad I did. THE DANDY WARHOLS are uniquely creative and talented. I enjoy all the songs on this CD. I believe the tunes that first caught my attention are "You Are Killing Me", followed closely on its' heels with "All The Girls In London" (my favorites) but all are diverse & entirely entertaining! In order to describe THE DANDY WARHOLS "DISTORTLAND" sound to a friend I tried to think of bands he likes and put THE DANDY WARHOLS into a comparison, so he'd at least have a "starting point"; with one band I'm aware he knows & the other I'm not sure of, but I sent him a link...Take Supergrass, cross with Cowboy Junkies and you might just find yourself in the right vicinity of THE DANDY WARHOLS "DISTORTLAND"!!! Give a Listen and you'll get it (both figuratively and literally and you'll buy "DISTORTLAND") Enjoy!!

Gung Ho, Baby!
Dandys fan since '94 and I have to say I once again disagree with most of the mainstream professional critics with their picks of the standout tunes. I always approach it with one question in mind: If I had my own radio station, which songs would be getting airplay? Hands down it would be 'Semper Fidelis' and 'Doves', in that order. Maybe it's the Marine Corps brat in me, but Semper Fi may be the coolest Dandys song I've heard in years.

Deal one out, deal one in . . . (get the album and you'll understand!)
If you like the Dandys you'll want this album -- multiple terrific tracks. One interesting "hidden" track (leastwise, it's not the list on the cover) which may be an old nickelodeon. Other reviews have noted this covers the spectrum of the musical genres that the Dandy Warhols are known for. Whichever is your favorite, there are a couple of songs here that will be among your favorites. (Mine would have to be "Pope Reverend Jim" which is . . . "song of the summer" type material; kooky sort of pop influenced, uh, listen to it. Words don't do justice to music.)Nice to see that Anton Newcombe gets a credit for photography -- Brian Jonestown Massacre is too good a band for there to be anything but friendly rivalry, I would hope.Heard about the album on Pandora (on my Dandy Warhols station) so, those ads work.

The Dandy Warhols remain at the top of my favorite musicians list
The Dandy Warhols remain at the top of my favorite musicians list! This CD has more of the same easy going, fun to sing along with, sweet tunes as earlier CDs, although none of the long, drawn-out instrumentals that some fans might really enjoy...oh, let's say, meditating along to. The song writing and recording are excellent. Doves is a gorgeous song. Search Party, Semper Fidelis, and Catcher in the Rye are also outstanding. Overall, a great CD.I work at the Love Box Office at The Mirage, listening to Beatles music all day long. The Beatles are The Beatles, can't really bad mouth them. Still, I love getting off work and popping this CD into the player! Now if only Cirque du Soleil would do a show based on the Warhols!

it's so good. Their most consistently good collection since 13 Tales
Killing me, it's so good. Their most consistently good collection since 13 Tales. Plenty of pop sensibility here (You Are Killing Me, All The Girls In London), some nice shoe-gaze (Semper Fidelis, Doves), and a whole lot of stuff in between (Styggo, Catcher In The Rye). Just super.

The Dandys Rock!
Somehow I missed this when it came out. I used to be a college radio DJ & fully supported them back in the early 00's. The Dandys have in my opinion put out their best album with Distortland. I bought the first album when it came out, I LOVED 13 Tales when it came out, Earth to... was pretty great, this is just so much better. It really clicks with my brain for some reason. I've listened to this album probably a hundred times in the last few months. I don't often get albums & listen to them like that anymore. It's rare. I'm eagerly awaiting the follow up! These guys still have it.

Love.
Incredible. Amazing. Love it sooooo much. Can't stop listening to it. Best tracks are STYGGO, Catcher in the Rye, You are killing me... every song on here is good, all very different, very creative. There's a lovely gentleness about it all, just close your eyes and listen to it all the way through a few times, it'll make your soul happy. It makes my soul happy, anyway. If you love the Dandies, you'll love this album.

magnifique album
