J.M. Fraser's Shaving Cream

This is my favorite shaving cream. Using my brush and a shaving bowl, I can whip up a rich lather in no time. If I skip using a bowl, I can get a great lather using a brush to apply and build up the lather to my face. If you are a wet shaver, you should try this shaving cream. You will not be disappointed. My only issue is that the product is often in short supply and not always in stock. If you find you like it, but 2 of them at a time so you will not run out.

Love the price on this. When today's better wet shaving soaps are getting costly, Fraser's gives you twice the value (if not more) and nice performance. This doesn't lather (for me) as slickly/full as some of the top players, like PAA or Cold River, but it does a very good job and when you factor in the cost, it's going to be a go-to for a long time. Can be used with or without a brush; I use a brush for DE shaving, but you could just spread it on your face if you don't have time, and there is enough slickness for your razor to do a decent job. I'd suggest, for best results, using a synthetic brush and ensuring you apply enough of the cream (don't go crazy, a lot will depend on how hard/soft your water is, how thick you like your cream, etc.).

Just a heads-up that there are serious issues with the recent batches of the J.M. Fraser. Ordered it a few days ago from DetailsforMen via Amazon. It came and I could not for the life of me make a lather with it. And I am a a very experienced wet shaver. I asked for a refund. An email from Details said: >> Refund has been issued. Throw it away. They are having a manufacturing issue and we issued a full refund. No clue what happened. We ordered fresh product, took 2 months to get and then the quality issue came up.<< DetailsforMen was great though..no arguments, issued refund straight away! If you MUST have it contact the retailer (I'd use DetailsforMen) first to make sure issue has been resolved.

So far the best shave cream for my thick, wiry facial hair. It softened my beard unlike any other soap or cream. It lathered nicely and provided exceptional lubrication and cushion. The scent is non-industrial, fresh and light citrus(lime), very pleasing and reminiscent of a traditional barbershop. With the one pound tub this product is of great value for the money. J.M. Fraser's belongs on the counter of any cut throat/DE shaver including professional barbershops.

JM Fraser's is probably one of the best values in shaving cream for traditional wet shaving. By that I mean most folks use it with a shaving brush to whip up a lather - any decent shaving brush will do. If you don't have a shaving brush, that's OK. Most shaving creams (including this one) can be used without one too, you just don't get as much lather, but the slickness and protection will be there.The citrus scent is mild, and (with a brush) it easily generates a rich, shiny slick lather that is comparable to any others you may find.Fraser's seems to be among the best at softening the beard as well. The downside is there's only one formula - no fancy Rose, Sandalwood or Cologne scents here.The other thing I like about it, as a person who has way more soaps and creams than I will probably ever use - it keeps well in the tub. Fraser's container may not look fancy, but it does seal, which is what it's supposed to do. This means you won't have to toss it should you get distracted by other products and return to it months or even years later.I don't always buy shaving cream in a tub. But when I do, I buy J.M. Fraser's.

A cream that has been highly praised as a cream for tough beards, I have tried it several times and it fails to compare to Cyril r salter shave cream. Certainly a barging for the quantity and size and price, but I would recommend trying a sample before you buy.

Very rich and super slick. Some lather ran down the brush handle causing the brush to fly out of my hand. Using a blade that normally gives 3 shaves, I was able to get a 4th with no irritation and BBS,too.

Incredible lather, great cushion for a slick, comfortable shave. Works as well or better than creams costing three times as much! Nice mild lemony scent that doesn't interfere with your favorite aftershave.I don't see how you could go wrong. I love this stuff.
