Gourmet Tahitian Vanilla Beans (25 beans)

These beans are moist, but they smelled of something other than just vanilla. Maybe I bought a different type (Tahitian) than I have bought before, but I would spend more money for a true smelling bourbon vanilla bean. On the plus side- I added all 25 beans (Split them open first) to my 750 liter bottle of vodka and they turned it dark brown within a week. (I added these to the bottle that I had previously had 10 beans in for a year (It had been a light tan before I added these beans.) My home made vanilla extraxt looks amazing, but it has a different type of smell- somewhat vanilla and somewhat floral or something.

Bought it for making my own Vanilla extract . The content of the inside of these beans became gooey -gummy after being infused in alcohol for a month. It doesn't look right at all. I have made my own Vanilla extract many times before , never had the stretchy consistency of the content of the beans such as these. It looks disgusting, stretchy not pasty as usual. Don't know what's wrong with these beans but I need to find a different supplier.

Not quite up to par for Grade A or Gourmet Quality cooking beans, but excellent for use in making extract. Supple, moist and highly aromatic, these beans were not as large and plump with caviar as I would expect for cooking purposes, but I used them for extract and they are quickly infusing into a fine and flavorful Tahitian brew. No off flavors or scent noted so far and they have a very pleasant and strong aroma. Overall, I was pleased with this purchase since I wanted to make some more extract anyway.

This arrived timely. Was in suctioned bags for freshness. I went to make vanilla after about a month and a half and every package had white mold growing on the beans. I threw them all away. Very disappointed. Big waste of money.

These were great for what I needed. I bought extra because the price wad great. They seemed a bit moist for a vanilla bean. No problem if stored properly. Looked in on them today and there were 2 tiny caterpillars? Dare I say worms? I dunked them all in vodka, wiped them down, and gave them another vodka shake and roll. I have them on my counter drying them out a bit better before I re-store them, this time, in the fridge.Update- found a silica packet and put it in with the beans. They are in the cupboard in a mason jar. All seems good now. Vanilla tragedy averted.

Some of the beans were acceptable, given the cost (specifically 4 of the 25 beans). However, several were very thin and short, with some frayed on the ends. These were also very inferior in quality to other Tahitian vanilla beans that I have purchased from other sources in the past - the smell was very weak and slightly off. I will not be purchasing from this source in the future.

I thought this was a great deal on 25 beans. I was wrong.First off, I only got 24.Second, while quite a few of the beans were plump and full of scrapings, there were equally as many that were small and thin, with nothing inside.You’d be better off getting 20 decent beans for the same price.This was no bargain.

I was a little worried before receiving these beans because some people had received dried and moldy beans. Not sure if the reviews were for this same company, but I was very happy to have clean and moist beans. Not sure how they will taste as they are all percolating into vanilla flavoring for holiday gifts. Some are in vodka and some in bourbon. Still will need a few months to really know how they worked out. Fingers crossed....
