I purchased this pump because the placement of my fountain was not near an electrical outlet. The pump will work very well, as long as there is strong sunlight. When I would let part of my shadow cover part of the solar panel, the pump would shut off. Even on a sunny day, if there are some clouds, the pump will not work. I was expecting the pump to work well, beings I live in FL and we have A LOT of sunlight, but this device requires CONSTANT DIRECT sunlight to power. Sadly, I had to return this item after 2 days. If the item was powered better and had some sort of battery to store power for when there is not direct sunlight, this would be a perfect product.

Works Great!I also appreciate that when I asked online, if there was a longer electrical cord available, I got a follow-up response from the seller and was sent a longer cord asap.I wish it had a back-up storage battery so it worked when the sun went down, but it does run from about 9:30am to about 2:30pm.The birds love it, especially the Hummingbirds. It keeps the water agitated to help prevent algae and mosquito breeding.Thanks,Michael

Just steal from your pet's water fountain instead
Not quite what I expected. The "pump" is the same as the one in my automatic cat fountain. And, the panel, despite being shown propped up in the pictures like normal solar panels, comes with no legs or poles. So unless you want to spend time or money that this thing doesn't deserve DIYing, you have to lay the panel flat on the ground, where obviously a plethora of problems arise, especially when waterfowl are introduced into the mix as in my pond. Oh, and the cord is not long at all. I was willing to work with that aspect of it, but considering the rest of the product is a joke, it is going back.

simple design that works
Hooked it up to a tiered fountain and it pumped the water. The mounting brackets are a little tricky to thread the bolt into. I fed them from below the lip and it took a couple slow steady tries to get each in. It has only been running for 20 minutes. I'll update when it stops working.3 months of summer use later... thing is awesome. Pump ran dry a few times and kept right on chugging when I filled the fountain with water. Buying another for a NFT project to see how it performs.

What a little champ of a fountain pump. Very reliable. I have ignored the poor thing, even running out at the last minute to add dearly needed water, and it just pumps on. Have had almost a year and it acts like new. The pump is lifting the water about 2 feet on my fountain and has a good steady output. Maybe i should clean the solar panel for it for the holidays. Love it and the wonderful water fall sounds it lends our yard.

You get what you pay for.
The Solar powered pump was easy to set up and get going quickly. It does not have any mounting brackets for the solar panel. It worked fine as stated when the Sun is out. But for us, it lasted 36 days, 6 days past the Amazon's return policy. I cannot find any information on any other kind of repair or replacement. So... maybe others will have pumps that will last longer, but ours barely cleared the return bar. Oh well... you get what you pay for! At least I have a 12 V 5W solar panel to power.... ???

It works for us - so far so good.
Ordered two - one worked and one didn't. The one that works, is working really well. Just so you know, there is no battery to this so if the sun is out and blazing on it, it'll work. If there is any shadow, it powers down DRAMATICALLY. It works for us - so far so good.

don't bother getting anything less than 5W, because those are just not powerful enough, this one can take water to a good height of about 3 feet with good sunlight, however, no sunlight or if the panel is covered for even a second by your shadow the pump stops generating power and once the sun is exposed again, the pump works 100% of the time- good product but splurge and get the 5W nothing less
