The Light Fantastic: (Discworld Novel 2)

The Colour of Magic part two
`The Colour of Magic' finished with Rincewind and Twoflower falling off the edge of the Disc and `The Light Fantastic' takes things from here. However, the story of the Discworld's first tourist is complicated somewhat as an event that could end the world itself begins and the only thing that can stop it is the spell stuck in Rincewind's head . If this wasn't bad enough Rincewind must also deal with trolls, druids, talking trees, a detour to Deaths cottage and the Discworld's greatest hero. While `The Light Fantastic' is a far better book than its predecessor, it is still a long way off the greatness of the later Discworld books. The book has a plot that is a bit more focused and consistent than the one in `The Colour of Magic' and the tone is probably a bit closer more established setting of the later books. The book is still a very entertaining read though being as funny as you would expect from a Discworld book and although the writing style is a bit repetitious it is still easy to read. While not necessarily one of the better Discworld books `The Light Fantastic' is still a classic of the series and a must read for any fan of the series.

The Book Fantastic
Pratchett has such a distinctive style of writing that either appeals to you or it doesn't. Personally I love it and this book is another great example - would highly recommend.

Brilliant, as you'd expect.
What is there to say about Terry Pratchett that hasn't already been said? This book is a light, fantastic read (not sorry). It's the second in the series and directly follows Colour of Magic. It's one of the few I had never read before but it's definitely up there with his best works. The soft back book itself is as you'd expect with a book: Paper and has words on. It ticks those boxes superbly.

As good as all of his books, if you like this genre and humour
As good as all of his books, if you like this genre and humourI got this for my son who does not seem to get the hang of his humour (yet) only because I could not find my original copy.

Collector's Edition Books
Just started collectiong the Collector's Edition series of Terry Pratchett's "Discworld" series, to go along with my hardbacks and paperbacks. They look so much more suited to my shelf all being same size and artist, and I am more than happy with the editions I have made.
