Seems to be accurate enough for my use - I wanted to check for cold spots in the attic that would indicate A/C duct leaks, and hot spots in the ceilings and walls that would indicate missing or thin insulation. Tested it on various typical indoor surfaces (carpet, drywall) and outdoor (wood, concrete), and it seemed to indicate the correct temperature within a degree of a known accurate conventional thermometer. I've only tested it at temperatures from freezer (0 deg F) to attic (140 deg F), so I can't attest to the accuracy beyond that range. It takes a second or so to acquire and display the temperature of whatever it's pointing at, so you can't sweep it across a surface rapidly to look for hot or cold spots, but it's fast enough for what I'm doing. With the price increase as of this writing, another one might be a better deal. These all appear to be more or less the same made in China product - look at price and specifications for your needs.
