Give Up, Gecko!

Thanks so very much Ms MacDonald for this easy read, colorful, well illustrated book! My granddaughter and I enjoyed all the energy the animals used to find water! We laugh quite a bit and enjoyed it immensely! I would recommend this book to parents who would like to teach their children to read and learn how to work together with others. I gave this book five stars because it makes you laugh, teaches your children how to work together and get along with each other while learning to read. My students enjoy me reading aloud from this book every year. The book's titular line 'Give Up Gecko!' provide a good focus point for them to chime in and get involved in reading aloud. The pictures are quite good as well. The moral of perseverance is well brought out through the story and doesn't feel forced at all. Would definitely recommend. An overall cute & fun book.

I donated this book to a local kindergarten class for reading aloud and hopefully later reading independently. The kids loved it so much they asked for a repeat performance the next school day. Smiles and laughter from everyone! There are lessons about trying hard and never giving up and about the smallest of the group being able to contribute and even lead. But-- the favorite part of this tale was that the kids got to "stomp, stomp, stomp" their feet along with the various animals. This is a tale from Uganda and has wonderful pictures drawn of many African animals. Highly recommended and would make a great gift to a child or school.

I got this book to read to my grandchildren on my 7" Kindle Fire HD. The print in this book is too small and too fine to read comfortably. I have not been able to find a way to enlarge the print. Even my granddaughter gave up on trying to read the book. "It's too small" she said. I bought Goldilocks and the Three Bears at the same time and it does not have the same readability issue.Revision: Amazon Customer Service very kindly contacted me and told me to "double tap" on the writing to get the writing to expand. This did resolve the readability issue. Thank You Amazon.The drawings in the book are charming and it is good for the kids to have a story that is so different from their own world.

We already had this story on Kindle and since my child liked it I decided to buy the book as well.

I picked this story up on the kindle for my sons nightly bedtime story. The story itself provides the lesson to never give up and to never underestimate someone's size. The Gecko is the hero of the story obviously but provides a positive lesson for kids. It's an easy, quick read with excellent graphics. I would highly reccomend for someone that enjoys making bedtime reading fun. Check it out today and the price is perfect.

I bought the kindle version of this book to read to my daughters (3 and 5 years old). They really liked it and want me to read it to them all the time. That's nice because it's fun for me to read. It has a cute simple story, fun pictures, and lots of repetition that my kids can shout out on their own.I have found with some kindle editions of children's books the pictures and words seem to get mixed up so they don't match. That was not a problem for me with this book.

We bought this book to take to our almost 4-year old grandson. He **LOVED** it! The first time I read it to him, we read it at least 4 times in a row. Then, over the next 4 weeks, we read it several more times. He really enjoyed shouting with the animals and me, "Give up, Gecko!" and, then, "Don't give up, Gecko!" What fun.And, besides being a great book, it arrived in perfect condition and right on time.

Die Geschichte ist sehr authentisch und süß, Illustrationen sind auch sehr nett, könnte aber schon etwas süßer sein aus Erwachsenen Sicht. Mein Kind ist bald 2 Jahre alt, das Buch ist für sie ziemlich “advanced”, trotzdem sie liebt das Buch

Lovely illustrations and good message for Kids to not give up easily. Definitely a good addition to the library and a great story for kids.

good lesson, great illustrations! i'm not a fan of the writing, but 2 out of 3 makes this a worthy addition to our library.
