Great Training/Hunting Whistle
As described. I needed a backup for my current whistle which is the same make and model. I love the whistle. It is pea-less and works in all kinds of environmental conditions. My dog hears it as opposed to my voice when in the field.g responds very well to it and often. Just an FYI; this whistle is a frequency that can be heard by humans. That's fine by me.

Good whistle
The Acme 211.5 is not silent. It is an audible to human dog whistle without the pea. The 211.5 runs about 5700 hertz and is audible to a dog at an advertised distance of 1.5 Km, or around 1600 yards. Just under a mile. I use this whistle while duck hunting. My dog hears it just fine if I need to handle on long retrieves. It is a good product that is consistent in its sound quality.

Great Whistle at a Great Price.
Great Whistle at a Great price. This is a traditional English style pea-less whistle. I like because its loud enough, but not obnoxious. I tried the smaller size, but for whatever reason, my dog did not respond as well, this size is perfect for working my Springer Spaniel. There seem to be a lot of people who assume this is a silent (only audible to dogs) whistle. IT IS NOT! This is a fairly loud pea-less whistle in the style used for years and years to train/handle working dogs (labs, Spaniels, etc) in the field. It is the 'Standard' for English dog handlers, and very popular here in the US for handling dogs in field trials, hunt tests, hunting etc. It is not a silent whistle.

A dog whistle you can hear
It's basically just a softer whistle to the human ear. Makes more noise that what I would have expected to hear so definitely not going to be using in our apartment building hallways. I'll stick to the shaker training toys for that. The dogs seem to respond better to that anyways. If your dog responds to whistles and you don't mind hearing it then this is perfect for you.

Great! Buy a BRIGHT color and a LANYARD though.
Works as advertised, however I wish I had purchased a bright color. I had the whistle in my "treats bag" and started running with my dog, The whistle fell out at some point and it took me a while to trace my steps and find it. Had it been a bright orange or yellow, it would have been much easier to find. The whistle is loud and with proper training, dog responds to call. I suggest putting the whistle on a lanyard.

The cheap price was too good to be true
Disappointing. I need a whistle that will be heard at the beach with noisy surf, at a distance of 50 yards. The day I received this one, I tried it out various ways. The dogs could barely hear it when the window was closed. I thought ultrasonic whistles worked over long distances and through building walls. I'll be trying a more expensive whistle. The cheap price was too good to be true.

Train your dog to come with this whistle... every time.
Train your dog correctly with this whistle and you will never have to worry about your dog coming when you call. This whistle is small and produces a perfect-pitch tone that is not affected by your mood, attitude or frustrations with your dog. This whistle will help you command your dog and get them to come on first call. Yes, it really works like that!.... here is how I trained my dog with this 211.5 whistle: Start with a HUGE portion of lunch meat in your hand. Let your dog play in your fenced yard and let him or her get distracted, so they are not looking at you. Now, figure out a pattern tone to use and use it every time for the "Come" command.... (I use two short blasts) EVERY time you whistle, and they come, they get a HUGE helping of this very high value lunch meat treat. (NOT KIBBLE, NOT DOG TREATS) this must be a very high value treat... chicken, beef, port, whatever they CRAVE the most. Always reward them with this treat EVERY time they come. (so it takes a bit of preparation for training). Within two days (5 - 6 initial calls and rewards) I was able to recall my dog from 100 yards away, even with other dogs and distractions present. I then, slowly, started reducing the size and value of the treats. Now she comes with the whistle and only expects a bit of lovin'.... but every once in a while I surprise the heck out of her with a HUGE pile of lunchmeat in my hand. I keep her wondering if "THIS" time is the time with another high value reward like chicken or beet. This is not the only training method to use for this, but it worked for me. I keep two of these whistles with me at all times... one on a lanyard, one on my key chain. It's all you will need to command your dog. I highly recommend it.

Not good as a dog whistle.
Emits a sound audible to humans- dog whistles are made to be audible to a dog's hearing range and just outside of humans'. This one is extremely low pitched even for a regular whistle.

Bought more than one years ago and use it frequently with RECALL. Whistle will not make your dog stop barking simply by blowing it! (It may initially if your dog is curious, but the effect wears off quickly.) Here is how to use it for recall (barking stops if she is coming to you, by the way.) As with any whistle, it must be “primed” first by associating treats with the whistle. E.g. Feed your dog its food by hand for two days, a small handful at a time. When your dog is calm and looking to be fed, blow the whistle (I use two short bursts), say name plus “sit,” and feed part of the dog’s breakfast out of your hand. When done, praise heavily. Step away, get more of the meal in your hand, and repeat the process multiple times [3-5 whistle bursts per meal] until the food is gone. Repeat at dinner or the next morning. Usually 2-4 meal time pairings of whistle plus hand feeding of meal is enough to make the connection between the whistle and food. Next step: “prime” recall. Have high value treats ready in the house and whistle on a lanyard etc. When you catch your dog turning towards you or [better yet] coming towards you on its own, say its name plus “come” and then blow the whistle sharply. Encourage your dog as it comes to you (“come on, good girl, let’s go” etc). When she reaches you feed some of the high value treat while praising. Repeat 3-4 time inside the house per day, pairing the whistle with her name, the command, and praise. Try to catch her when she is coming to you naturally as opposed to expecting recall when she is distracted. A few days of this inside (hallways work well as she has limited places to go, except forward towards you) and when you are ready, move outside. Repeat the high reward, name, command and whistle routine outside when she is close and moving in your direction on her own. Once this working, use the recall routine when progressively further and when more distracted (e.g sniffing or eating grass etc. A few days of recall outside 4-5 time per day should get the whistle established. Be consistent and reward generously with valued treats at first. Ease off in amount and type of treat as she becomes reliable in her recall. Once recall is consistent, keep it sharp by using randomly to ensure it will work when needed. (Recall to short circuit unwanted behaviour, like eating poo, barking, wandering etc.) Good luck.
