Still The King Of all Chef's and Reality Tv
In the season opener, and I will not spoil anything, was filled with a few new opening acts. All depends on your point of view and your taste of course on how you will personally feel about the first few minutes of this episode. The concept of the show of course has not changed. But if it is not broke, don't fix it. Ratings for Ramsay and ALL of his shows pull in outstanding numbers. This season, they went with another full staff of 20 people, divided into men vs woman. Having so many people to start, as I have said before makes it easy for Ramsay to fire up to as many as he likes. There are so many to choose from.It also means more personalities, and my lord you have all kinds in this one. I call this season the dopey season. They all seem like Disney characters to me. They made it more difficult to pick out any one cook who seems even remotely decent. They literally all seem like very bad line cooks at best.Gordon looks much thinner as I believe his is getting ready for a marathon or just finished one. He is loud, and as usual has no problem throwing people out of the kitchen, and I am sure we will see double eliminations maybe even for the first time, we might just see a 3 person elimination. It does make for very a more compelling reality show. You will have contests, stunts, Beautiful scenery as it is filmed in San Francisco. The menu is about the same, with several of Ramsay's signature dishes, JP is of course there where the show needs him, and then you can expect more fighting and arguing among the chefs. Much more in fact. I will not spoil it for you. I will say the personalities are unique and worth watching as i cant take my eyes off the screen. I will say so far with two episodes gone, just like a few years ago when the woman seemed to dominate early, this year it seams that the men have the edge. But that does not mean it cant switch in a hurry as there are 20 chefs, now down to 18 as two are gone. I think they started off the season well, the nutty contestants are really fun to watch, and watching Ramsay try to control this group would give anyone grey hair fast. I do think we will see some new changes this season. I cant say what, but it is my opinion we will see a few changes. Not many as the chemistry of the show is obviously working as it is in its 12th season. As I have read there will be a 13th season as well. In Tv land this is a life time.Ramsay despite having no free time, this man is obsessed with perfection, and this why he is one of the best chef's in the world, and a huge success on Tv. And lets not forget all his restaurants around the world, and all his Michelin stars which are almost impossible to get. Ramsay may be one of two chefs that has 3 stars for one restaurant alone. I may be wrong I will have to check. My point is, no matter how many shows he has, his style of teaching his chefs works, this is why even if he is not there all the time, they run it as though Ramsay was there running them himself. He said and feels he is not a realty Tv star, he is a chef first and foremost. He still oversees his operations, and still runs the lines and all his chefs at his restaurants. All his passion for food in every single aspect just shows and shines through in all his words and actions in this show. If you are a fan, it's a must see for so many reasons, and not one reason not to. If you are new to the show, the great thing is you can just pick up and start watching. But I think it is way more fun to start at the beginning and watch the progression of the show.So in closing, you start with 20 crazy personalities, way more then the usual, they are feisty from the jump start, and Ramsay is dropping F bombs everywhere. For me it is always fresh, and still new every season. Always something new, and these chefs are just worth watching alone. It really takes you through a ton of emotions while you watch and route for you favorite chef. For me you cant give it anything less then 5 stars for every category. It really looks like a crazy, most likely the craziest season yet. You cant go wrong in giving it a try. Everything you love about this show if you do watch it is still there, and a few twists as well. If your new, I say give it a try and have some fun.

Insanity At It's Finest Hour, I have Watched for 12 Years, There Is a Message There Someplace
The main thing here is this, if it was not entertaining it would never have been on TV for 12 years. Fact! The little known fact that the winner of last season did NOT get the job (they paid her off) because she could not pass a drug test at the Las Vegas casino/hotel just adds more insanity to this program.I have heard all the things people say good and bad but I have watched every season of Hell's Kitchen since it's inception. It is not great drama, it is one egomaniacal chef going all Drill Sergeant on a bunch of chefs of various levels of talent from little/none to executive chef talent and they all allow themselves to be subject to his whims and outbursts for a chance to get a job at one of his world famous restaurants. This is nothing more than reality TV (IMHO) at it's best, the fact that there is really only one vote (Ramsey) and any rules there are he can break when he wishes add to the dramatic effect of the shows and for some reason, people like me (and a few million of my friends) can't stop watching him.The show usually ends up with the 2 best cooks and then he seems to pick the lesser of the two (again my opinion) but I keep coming back. If you have never watched this I suggest you go back to Season 1 and start so you can see the evolution. I am hopelessly addicted to this show but since entertainment is what we crave, this is what I watch every spring/summer. I subscribe to Amazon Instant Video so I won't miss any episodes, yes I am Doug Meeks and I am addicted to Hell's Kitchen for 12 years now ......

Eh!
Not so happy with this season. The women did consistently well while the men flubbed a lot. Then we end up with 2 men at the end? And the one who won talked back, was not alwas a team player. Not satisfied with this result.

Gotta love Gord
If you a Gordon Ramsay fan I think you'll love this. I find the quality of this show begins to decrease as the seasons go on. Gordon as well as the contestants get wilder and the scenarios get crazier making it seem staged. But still good foodie drama. If your new to this show I'd say start at the 2nd season.

other than that the rest of the discs seem fine.
had to return because of volume issues and disc two defective...sound is very loud and episode 6 had playing issues...kept freezing and would skip right to the end of that episode...other than that the rest of the discs seem fine...also note that this is a four disc package not a five discs package as advertised.
