Is the board supposed to be so light you almost cant see it? I need a bright light to see the lines.

I haven't used it yet. I'm still bonding with my pendulum. I did, however, notice how light the writing is on the board and trying to think of a way to bring out the writing. Maybe varnish? Not sure yet if I should do anything to it.
