Living in Colorado, I get to enjoy the amazing golden aspen trees during the Fall season. At the end of the change, you will see just a few stray leaves hanging on and fluttering in the wind, which is the inspiration for this beautiful necklace. This unique design is made using white satin and copper metal clay. Each element is hand cut or hand formed, carefully layered and delicately assembled. After sanding and refining, a layer of copper metal clay was painted onto the "leaves" then the pendant was fired at a high temperature in the kiln. After firing, the pendant was sanded and polished, then polished some more. A protective coating was applied to preserve the beautiful dark silver color. The copper tends to alloy with the iron during firing and comes out of the kiln looking more rose bronze, so I have paired it with a matte gold and antique silver chain. The pendant measures approximately 1-1/4" x 1-1/2" and the chain is 18" long.
