It functions as mentioned. Can keep a lid (even the heavy glass lid) and the spoons as well. In terms of maintenance, if an oily spoon is kept, you have to wash it 2-3 times for the oiliness to go as it's plastic material. Also if you have just stirred spices and keep let's say the tumeric spoon, the stain remains even after thorough washing.
