Online shopping for Kitchen Knives & Accessories from a great selection of Cutlery Sets, Specialty Knives, Sharpeners, Cutting Boards, & more at everyday low prices. Review: A clever knife sharpener. - I saw a demonstration of this sharpener on one of those shopping networks under a different brand name. I've always wished that I could have a set of kitchen knives that performed even half as well as some I've seen on TV. I have some expensive knives, and have been using a simple sharpening rod on them. I never mastered the art of being quick at this as many professional chefs are, but I can get a bit above average sharpness on the one I use most for cutting up raw meats. It will hold the sharpness for a good while, but there's no way I could ever hope to get it to slice through a soft tomato effortlessly as they show on TV. This Blade Butler, though, shows some promise โ although I didn't have any soft tomatoes handy to try with it. Instructions say to pass the blade through the sharpener 3 to 5 times in order to get optimum sharpness. I'd say 5 or 6 passes is more like it. With that many passes, it's not really razor sharp, but I can cut up chuck roasts or fish very nicely. With the same knife I can dice onions very well after using this sharpener. I'm not so certain that this sharpener will last very long, though. Given the many reviews of this product under a variety of brand names here at desertcart, I would not be surprised to discover that the lever used to lock down the suction will break as many reviewers have reported, nor would I doubt that the product will lose its ability to sharpen well for very long. At least the Blade Butler is competitively priced for its build quality, so I will be pleasantly surprised if it lasts longer than many of its reviewers elsewhere say it will. The TV demo says this sharpener works on serrated blades, but I was not able to do this. The TV demo also says that this sharpener will NOT work on sharpening scissors. Not a bad little sharpener for its low price from Blade Butler, but I would avoid opting for the higher priced brands. Review: The sharpener is very easy to use - Was much smaller than I thought it would be, but it definitely works! I bought this for my roomie and her hopelessly dulled collection of Henkels knives. The suction cup is strong, no way is that thing coming off the counter. The sharpener is very easy to use, and it put a very sharp edge on the 6-8 knives I used it on. Made chopping the cauliflower a pleasure and not an ordeal, and precise-cut tomatoes were once again within my dominion after using this bad boy. My roomie is one of those unfortunate left-handers (God bless their wretched souls) that exist within our society, but she was able to use the sharpener to put a fine (albeit left handed) edge on the rest of the knives. Definitely will rebuy/gift, this thing is versatile and works as advertised!

A clever knife sharpener.

The sharpener is very easy to use

Great little sharpener
Blade Butler works great! Very convenient to use and requires no special skill. Just suction to countertop for safety, pull the knife through the carbide sharpener notch a few times, and presto - a reasonably sharp knife. Not a professional result, but perfect to put a quick edge on a dull knife. Use Blade Butler consistently and your everyday knives will always be ready to go. Well worth the money.

Great Product. Great Price
The item actually came 48 hours before the actual date it estimated...Which was great! The product is just as described. Wasn't surprised by the size because I read other reviews, plus the image didn't really make it seem like it was a really big device. You will need to pull the lever down to engage the suction fairly gingerly because it feels as if it would possibly break if pulled down with too much force. The suction of the device is extremely sturdy. Once it's locked in place...It doesn't move. The knives that I have have ridged grooves in them. So, I am unsure if it is actually sharpening like it is suppose to. I sharpened a pair of scissors, and it worked like a charm. Definitely a 5 star product. Can't beat that for the amount of money that is spent on the device.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
DO NOT BUY this brand. While I got it fast, the suction didn't work in any surface I tried, I will return it. I purchased a set of 3 from a TV sale network and they are all great, kept one and gave 2 as presents, my friends still using them and they still work great. One asked me to get her a few to give away and since they don't sell this smaller one anymore I checked here on Amazon. The brand I got on TV was Sharp Shark, not available here so I decided to give this one and the Emeril one a try, this cost $6 the Emeril $10. The Emeril one works better, suction worked and sharpened knife fine. But if I ever need another one for myself, I will try to find the sharp shark on an auction site, they feel sturdy, sharpened knive great. I use it often.

Good sharpener
Got this to use for sharpening my knives for hunting. Its ok. It fits in the palm of your hand. The suction kind of sucks. Depends on where you suction it i would imagine. It sharpens fairly well. I just hold around the base then sharpen my knife. Takes about 4-5 passes with light pressure. Great for when you have no power for an electric sharpener. Now we will see how long it lasts

Doesn't last very long
This little sharpener works great....the problem is that after 8 months of having this, and about 10 times using this, the rubber bottom fell of and the spring and a metal pin came flying out! It's broken now and I am one who treats everything I own with care. Very disappointed at the quality and how very little use I got from this!

Great Little Sharpener!
I did not expect this sharpener to work as well as it does. I had trouble, at first, getting the little lever down to suction the sharpener to my counter top, because I felt like the plastic lever was going to break. But, I went ahead and pushed it down, and it securely suctioned on. I have an inexpensive paring knife that I use for everything. Consequently, it becomes dull fairly often. After using this sharpener (making a few more swipes on the sharpener area than suggested, for the first sharpening), I could not believe how sharp my knife was. In fact, I made another order for some to have as small tuck-in gifts. Also, the size is perfect. I just put it in my knife drawer and its ready when I need it. On a different note..be careful after sharpening...I now have a several tiny nicks on my hands that I received while getting used to my sharper-than-normal knife!
