This 25" x 54" x 11" insulating stair cover is a piece of the puzzle of weatherizing your home. It slows air transfer from your attic to your home, and stops insulation from falling into your home when the attic is accessed. Fits most openings up to 25"x54". We manufacturer this cover a few inches larger than needed to accommodate building tolerances. If your opening is too small, simply fold the edge over and staple for an airtight seal. Easy access to your attic with a zipper. Easy to install, all you need is a staple gun. You can use caulk around the edges for an extra seal if you like, but its not necessary. Serves its main purpose but cheap materials and workmanship for the money
The stair tent is as described but don't expect super-high quality materials or construction. It serves it's basic purpose of preventing free-flowing air drafts if you seal it correctly around the edge of the opening but certainly does not offer a large R value of protection overall. The radiant material is similar to car sun shields and is cheaply sewn to the zipper cloth with wide stiches that still allow air flow you can see light through. I am disappointed in the quality for $108. It feels more like a $40-$50 product based on materials used and workmanship. I bought two because I have two access points and will use them because I have no other immediate options but I expect to replace them as soon as I find one of better quality.

Absolutely fantastic, purchase immediately. (NOTE - you must tape it.)
Fantastic solution at a very low price. What you need in your attic in summer is two things: LOTS OF VENTILATION. (It's very common to need to add a couple of powerful FANS, directed at any vents in the attic-roof, to blow hot air out.)And secondly, you need to insulate the ATTIC DOOR. To stop heat pouring down through it.Of course, you could purchase and have installed an expensive modern "insulated attic door" for some thousands, but in the vast majority of cases this simple product seems to be a fantastic fix.Using an infrared thermometer, I measured AT LEAST 15 DEGREES reduction in heat, just by installing this. It largely solved the problem single-handed.NOTE - after stapling this cover to the wood around the hatch. It's essential that you get some "aluminium tape", insulating tape - it will cost 5 to 15 bucks to buy a roll. Get as wide a roll as you can get. Completely seal the join (on the "ABOVE" side), to stop hot air leaking in. It's possible experts could do this with a tube of sealant, but it is tremendously easier to just stick insulating tape along it.(I suggest to this excellent company, they should throw in a short role of inexpensive aluminium tape, as a bonus - since you must tape it when you install.)

Maybe defective, but the item is definately not airtight. I am absolutely underwhelmed.
I had high hopes for this item to help create a buffer between my second floor and the attic, but this does little to nothing in helping to reduce drafts. I purchased this item hoping for an air tight seal, but this is not the case. While the insulation part of the cover appears to be in good shape, the zipper leaves a lot to be desired. Light is visible at every stitch. I think this is greatly reducing the effectiveness of the item and is allowing the warm air to rise into the attic. The issue with this is that once the warm air hits the cold air it then condensates.Since I had my doubts about how effective this unit is, I decided to place a plastic sheet on top of this cover. Not to my surprise, I did find condensation between the cover and plastic sheet; proving that I was still loosing a good amount of warm air through the attic.Additional information:1) the attic ladder insulating cover was installed with staples. I then caulked the cover to the attic entrance. I am fairly certain the cover was installed correctly.2) weather stripping around attic door isn't the best as the door doesn't sit completely flush. Thus reason I was hoping for something air tight above the door.3) rough opening is air tight as it has been sealed with spray foam. Corners and seams were then caulked.4) rug directly below the attic door is still much colder than any other part of the second floor.

Very happy I didn't have to pay a contractor to install this!
Hi. First, I must say, I was very impressed to get an email from the company day the cover arrived letting me know they were there to support me, and they sent installation instructions with the email. Wow. How often does a company reach out? Took a while for the installation to make it to the top of my to-do list, but it did yesterday, and I was VERY pleased. The product is super-easy to install, and seems to work well! I don't own a stapler right now, so used cabinet screws, and they worked really well. Took less than an hour to put in, and I'm a tiny, almost 60-uear old woman! Did help to have someone change out the bit in the cordless drill...:)

Extremely Easy Draft Solution
It delivered quickly and literally took me 10 minutes to install with a staple gun. An extremely easy fix that anyone can do to minimize drafts from a pull down attic stair. I saw other reviews regarding the cost of the product. It is light and not that thick, however it is utilizing radiant barrier technology which IS thinner. I suppose near $100 is possibly high for the actual materials, but after I considered the time it would take me to build my own solution, I thought, time is valuable - therefore worth it. Also consider the labor involved with it's manufacture. 10 minutes of my time vs. futzing around for hours figuring out materials and then constructing something. I'm happy with my purchase. I recommend this product.

WORKS
I am so glad to bought this for my attic. My attic opening is in my house and I really needed to figure out ways to insulate my house better. I measured the opening and this was the right size to order, but when I installed it it was bigger than the opening, but it's flexible enough that it worked out great! Easy easy to install. Only requires a staple gun and it only took minutes. Worth buying!!!
