The Manta Ray Fire Pit design reflects the giant Manta gliding through the ocean on gentle wing strokes. The Manta Outdoor Fire Pit is a high quality, hand cut and crafted fire pit designed for years of heavy use. Each Fire Pit is made from one quarter inch (6.35 mm) thick carbon steel. This is by far the heaviest gauge metal used in any fire pit available today. The sturdy construction assures you of having this functional art for many years to come. They have an iron oxide finish/patina on the outside which will darken a little with time then become permanent. The interior is coated with a high temperature resistant paint and has an 1-1/2" rain drain in the bottom. This high quality fire pit requires no maintenance and has an overall height of 22" and a diameter of 36". Measurements may vary since each fire pit is hand made.

Beautiful fire bowl!
We wanted something a bit different and more eclectic for our backyard than the usual stone fire pit and this was perfect. Although it is fairly expensive, we got estimates from paver companies who we were considering for a paver patio, and the average cost for just the fire pit portion of the estimate was well over the cost of this one, so in that regard we saved money. It is very heavy steel and seems like it will last forever. Ours took about 10 days to make and a few more days to ship to us. We were lucky that the truck driver was happy to help us put it on our hand truck and roll it to the backyard (which they are not required to do).We will probably put a small, portable propane fire pit inside of it with lava rock around it rather than burning wood in it to make it more convenient for us rather than having to find and store wood but I can tell by looking at it that this would work great for a wood fire. It comes with a 1.5 - 2 inch drain hole in the bottom which is great for rainwater drainage but will probably work for us to run the propane hose out the bottom. I would definitely buy this fire bowl again and would recommend it to anyone considering a fire pit, particularly if you're thinking of having one built, in which case this one may be cheaper (and certainly more unique).

The media could not be loaded. Will like to post pics once landscaping is done unit is up and running . Received the unit. Its beautiful. Heavy about 160 lbs. Its more orange in color(patina) finish which is fine. It's more of a focal point than anything else. Once we get the burners going the flames are orange as well, so the two colors go well at night. Big hole at the bottom for gas line and water release. I am impressed. We live behind a golf course, so we get lots of wind with being an open area. This unit is not going anywhere once set. Glad to have made this purchase. Also the seller was phenomenal.

Do not buy
In less than a year and 4-5 fires the paint, that we paid extra for, has started to significantly peel and rust is taking over the fire pit. We contacted the distributor and manufacturer, neither of which would honor the 10 year warranty for "all components". They said it was normal weathering. Total peeling in less than a year for a $1000 fire pit is not normal weathering. I would not buy this fire pit again. I would even be concerned with the non-painted version given the lack of reasonable customer service.

Great purchase
I spent a lot of time looking for the right firepit for my newly hardscaped backyard and saw a lot of $200 range fire pits that looked nice but just did not seem like they would last. I was a little hesitant at first about spending $800 for a fire pit, however, when I saw one of these at Plow and Hearth I knew I had to get it. I can imagine buying a nice $200 fire pit and then replacing it a year or two later because of wear and tear. I cannot imagine this 110 pound fire pit needing replacement. It arrived via R&L Carriers (a semi truck) and thus I needed to be home to get it since they would not deliver it to my door since my driveway goes up hill (did not want box left on the side of the street). The driver, however, let me use his dolley to wheel it up my driveway. When I opened it, it had a very rusty appearance and I was a little concerned (won't be later). While it was heavy, I was able to at least get it into a wheelbarrow to move to my backyard. When we got a fire going in it, it very quickly started to change color on the outside (to what is displayed in the image on Amazon) from the heat and we were very impressed. But for a small portion of the bottom of the base, the entire color of the pit is a dark brown. One of our favorite things about the pit is the fact that you can sit around it and place your feet underneath and keep them warm.We are very happy with this purchase and everyone who has seen it likes it as well.
