I bought this artist pencil sharpener because it looked sturdy and could handle different pencil sizes and it absolutely delivers. It’s extremely well-made, nice and heavy, and feels solid in your hand. It sharpens pencils to a super fine point, whether you’re using art pencils or just regular ones. Honestly, it’s one of the best handheld sharpeners I’ve ever used. Plus, it’s beautiful. Highly recommend!

'Yes', these are some of the best - MANUAL pencil sharpener's manufactured, on the planet.'No', there is NO bin/container to catch your shavings in [if your looking for that ‘feature’, look another place]... You HOLD IT OVER your trash can or bin AND catch the shaving that way... It's 'old school' - ‘classic’ pencil sharpener, okay.However in return, for this/that minor inconvenience, you are going to find, you’ll get one of the cleanest - smoothest - sharpened wood-shafted pencils, in your writing/art/craft/pencil box you own.The blade is ‘razor sharp’ German manufactured steel [no Chinese stuff here] - AND you’ll find you can sharpen 100's and 100's of pencils, before having to even think of replacing the blade [and ‘yes’, replacement blades are out there for these]. I’ve never had an ‘issue’ on achieving any desired point, with an M+R sharpener; even with a ‘cheapy’ produced pencil, one can get results...As to ‘child-safe’... My 22 yr old Grand-daughter, started using an M+R sharpener before five - She still has ALL her fingers. My soon to be nine yr old Grand-son, has been using an M+R sharpener since before five and has yet, to incur an injury... Between four children and 8+ grandkids, there’s never been an ‘issue’ with a pencil sharpener about here.For around 10 bucks, I’ve no complaint with M+R and with this latest purchase. You could spend less and buy a cheaper sharpener... It’s what you want and/or need, is my thought. However, if you want a pencil sharpener, that’s going to ‘point’ your pencil and do an excellent job at it, then this you might seriously consider one of these.As I always say - ‘It’s your money...’-EDB

I am a colored pencil artist and have always found it struggling to find a good pencil sharpener that doesn’t break my pencils and makes a sharp point without the blade getting dull this is exactly what I was looking for and I like how it is made of brass so it is heavy and I feel less likely to hold it wrong to break the pencil

I will grind it to a fine, crisp point because a dull pencil is the first casualty in the battle of calculus. My sharpener, with its German engineering and brass solidity, will be my unyielding ally.We will sharpen precisely, we will sharpen efficiently. There will be no splinters, no breaks—only flawless 18° angles, perfect for tracing derivatives and drawing out my geometry proofs. Good quality. Nice and heavy. Sharpens well.

Just as sturdy as my ancient sharpener from the same company. Unfortunately, the quality control on the new one is a bit substandard. For example, the was a poorly machined edge on the small hole side that was quite sharp and required a bit of Dremel work to round it off.

I have used a lot of manual hand held pencil sharpeners (being the pencil nerd that I am) This one is the BEST I have ever used. I love this sharpener, it gives me the perfect point every time. I like that I can use the wide side for a shorter point and the thin hole for a longer point. Prior to purchasing this sharpener I used the other bullet style sharpener by the same maker (which became my favorite until I got this one which is even better. This sharpener works better on my Blackwing pencils than does the blackwing sharpener I have. I highly recommend this pencil sharpener. (And it even has a cool name)

Pros- easy to use, quick to use, built to last, small and practical to take with you anywhere, easily leaves a sharp tip to a pencil. ✏️Negatives- the negative is a positive for me but the pencils can sometimes be so sharp, it can be a bit hazardous if reaching for a pencil in a bag pocket and accidentally touching the tip. The only other thing is there is no waste container for the sharpened pencil parts to fall into, so have a trash handy or do over a piece of paper .
