Every single pencil I own has been sharpened to its maximum potential. It is comparable with everything, charcoal, graphite, soft graphite, hard charcoal, color pastel, HB-10B, Jet Black Graphite Blends, Sepia, Dark Sepia, Prismacolor, Generals, Fiber Castel, Staedtler. This is cheap, effective, timeless, ergonomic, professional, reliable, not an eyesore and what makes it unique, is that fact that it’s not aluminum. Take a look around. Notice that there is no reason to ever buy a single other brand or product that isn’t this one. All you do is tap to clean. It is the most transparent solution to deal with sharpening. Human problems require human solutions, and this is the most human solution to a sharp pencil. Easy to use, the shavings come out so clean, so that means you can just sweep it up. Absolutely perfect!!!! I use this at the clinic I operate for Art Immersion, w/ patients from all art levels, various physical limitations (works fine for those of "us" that have hand/finger issues from arthritis, Syrgen's Syndrome etc. (ignore the spelling,. I can't get it to spell it right due to language of the word is not English), but if you have it then you know to what I refer...and you know the impact on hands, fingers, and this sharper was made with serious forethought!Not a single person at our clinical program does not love them. I have a electric sharpener and a battery operated one that anyone can choose to use, ...nope., EVERYONE uses the 4 of these 2 ea. (bullet and the round double holed one) are on the table for them. (I do have personal ones I keep in my art bin at home as well).1. Extremely great at making very fine sharp ends.2. No waste of your quality pencils as it doesn't eat up your pencils to get the sharp tip in place! Love not wasting my graphite pencils, or my higher end colored pencils (also made in Germany).3. Saves space when heading out to draw outdoors, or travel and draw out on the road ...perfect for travel!4. You get what you pay for and this will do circles/.lines ha! around the cheap hand held ones, I mean it just puts them to shame!!! ...not even comparable!5. Love the brass, gives a good heft (not too heavy by any means, but the heft helps keep it nice and snug as it is designed to be, holding in place as you turn and bring that sharp end back (sharpen as you go and youll love the outcome).6 Perfect (I do mean PERFECT) for small detail drawings! (I do a lot of highly detailed drawings, and no doubt I would not have the outcome I have if I had to fight for the extremely fine tip I need when doing these drawings. I know what it was like before, and never again!I strongly recommend having two (one of each design for sure so you can compare and enjoy both). The double hole one allows for the fatter pencils, (I don't use pencils that size but for those who do, get one of those as well is my suggestion. I use the circle one all based on how my hands/fingers are doing with the medical challenge I have that impacts fingers...when my fingers are having a bad day, the bullet is for me the best one. But really either works, just a personal preference more likely.It is rare that I find a product that I cannot find at least something that can be improved, but they have not a single flaw its so well designed, made, and produces exactly what Im after, a SHARP tip, very sturdy,. and does not damage my high end pencils at all! No waste, just great product and outcomes!Lastly worth mentioning, I have a case of replacement blades, as they really (in my opinion) need to be the same brand to get the incredible outcomes. Sold on Amazon as well. I keep that pack in my carry art bin as well so if needed they are on hand.Defiantly get one. I can almost "promise" you will love making this choice. You HOLD IT OVER your trash can or bin AND catch the shaving that way... It's 'old school' - ‘classic’ pencil sharpener, okay.However in return, for this/that minor inconvenience, you are going to find, you’ll get one of the cleanest - smoothest - sharpened wood-shafted pencils, in your writing/art/craft/pencil box you own.The blade is ‘razor sharp’ German manufactured steel [no Chinese stuff here] - AND you’ll find you can sharpen 100's and 100's of pencils, before having to even think of replacing the blade [and ‘yes’, replacement blades are out there for these]. I saw this used by a sketch artist on You Tube. I just got it and I love it. I do have a nice electric sharpener that I like. But this is easily portable. I also saw a You Tube person mention that she used a manual pencil sharpener on her color pencils to keep their lead from breaking. I've encountered that problem a lot with my colored pencils. This works great, gives a nice sharp point. I also love that it's not plastic. This is well constructed and hefty.

Purchased for my granddaughter (7YO) the budding artist. A nice sharpener as it has two size holes, one for normal pencils and one larger one that can be used for larger pencils and crayons. I've used M&R sharpeners before at work and find them to be excellent long-lasting sharpeners. The blades are replaceable but I've found that that rarely needs to be done. Small enough to keep in a travel pencil pouch so that it's ready at hand, and something you'll have for years.

I search and found using the Perplexity App. This the last handheld pencil sharpener I will ever have to buy. As. Finish carpenter I have an electric sharpener at my saw bench, but the houses I work on are very large and I don’t have time to return to the bench every time I need to top off the point.

The product is good, solid brass sharpener. The quality is superb and can work for many years.The seller stated in the description that there will be four sharpeners instead when the package arrived there was only one. I found that this description will be misleading the buyers, hence caveat emptor. The description clearly says 4 where as only 1 item was received.

The best sharpener I have ever had for pastel pencils. Love, love love.
