The Mommy Book

Has Todd Parr ever even met real moms?
We received this book as part of an amazon book box, so I did not choose it myself, and I despise it. "Some mommies work at home" with a picture of a mom with a broom and mop? I work at home doing a job that I get paid to do, not just clean the house. Could he not have given that mom more life? "Some mommies order pizza" as she is lounging on the couch. We order pizza because we're run ragged and have a million other things to do, not because we are just sitting on the couch. I'm not sure Todd Park has any respect for moms or women in general. With that said, my daughter does really like the illustrations and bright colors. She keeps bringing it over to me to read. I just edit the words as I read.

Board book is abridged
We had the large hardcover of The Mommy Book from the library which my 1 year old was going to destroy with her love for it. So I ordered the board book. Very disappointed it is basically an abridged, shorter version of the hardcover! Must have missed that in the product description. Not sure she notices but I do!

Recommended!
Recommended! I'm not at all crafty or outdoorsy, not like Betty Crocker nor Martha Stewart and not Joanna Gaines either. I'm glad this book tells my kids not all moms are but that's okay. we still all have nice qualities. .... Relief!

I Love Todd Parr!
If you're looking for fun children's books that are progressive, creative, and that send positive messages, these are the books to buy! As the sole parent of a six-month-old, I have been looking for books on alternative families that I will be able to read my son when he begins to discern our family from other (two parent) families. I came across Parr's "The Mommy Book" and "The Family Book," which include a diverse array of both traditional and non-traditional families. I also purchased "It's Okay to Be Different" and "The Feelings Book," which provide simple yet fantastic ideas for conversations around healthy expressions of behavior and identity. I'm now a dedicated Todd Parr fan (you should "like" him on Facebook, if you're a user, to keep abreast of his activities and updates. He resides in the Bay Area and occasionally holds readings out there).

Not the best Mommy depictions
We have two other Todd Parr books, including the daddy book and wanted one for me to ready to my baby girl. She loves the others. To me there was nothing relatable in the book for my baby to connect with. Nothing special about it for us.

Love Todd Parr books
My 6 year old son loves essentially every Todd Parr book. He's been reading them himself for about a year and a half - the text is large and the words are easy for a preschool / kindergarten reader. And of course we love the messages in every Todd book!

The Mommy Book
This series of books is so simple and beautiful. I purchased this book for my 2 year old granddaughter and she always wants it read to her.

Allowing your kids to have an open mind.
Great book! I love how after reading this book, my kids are more open minded. Many of Todd Parr's books are similar like 'The Family Book' 'I Love You.' 'The Okay Book', which are also great books my kids enjoyed.

Great books
My kids love these books. At first I wasn't convinced, as they are so simple and the pictures are so childish, but thats obviously what my kids like as I had to read it at least three times in one sitting. Have bought more of Todd Parrs books since and they have all been great.

Okay but not what expected.
The book is fine but, it doesn’t really create a bond between mom and child the way I thought it would. I was looking for a book that would be special for my wife and son and this doesn’t really do it. It’s more about teaching kids about diversity and the different types of moms in the world. Not really what I expected.
