The Villain: Boston Belles, Book 2

To me this writer just gets worse the more she writes. I mean, the idea is to sharpen your craft as you go along and hers...not so much. Let's start with the characters. Are they in grade school? I have never read such underdeveloped characters without a real storyline in my life. I mean, what kind of line is:”I wish he’d finished the job, Flower Girl, so I could finally go ahead and marry someone in my own league. You were a mistake. A foolish, horny mistake. Divorce couldn’t come fast enough.”I'm not real sure what to say here. This is kind of why men treat women nowadays with no respect because we have women that write men with no respect. I can't say I'm surprised. This whole plot read like someone else's book and I can't say I'm not surprised about that either but the difference is - she didn't pull it off. I received this as an ARC and I didn't request it. Here's the thing, if you star a 4 or 5 you're good in the eyes of the review team and PR team. I found that out with Ruckus but if you star below that you're banned from reviewing anything ever from LJ Shen so I never requested this book thinking I'd never get it but when I did - I read it with an open mind. I read all books with an open mind because I'm a reviewer. However, this book with its MC who said awful things to the female character, Persy that it made me cringe. You don't talk to the woman you "love" like a piece of trash and really that's all he did during this whole book. So, if you want a woman-bashing book about a guy who loves himself the most then this is YOUR book. I hated the writing and it makes me wonder if she's ever had a man in her life even treat her good because if this is the kind of trash she's producing because she thinks it's okay for young women or young girls to want a man like this - THAT'S what wrong with domestic abuse cases today and I can say that with certainty. Shame on you for thinking that this is okay.

I wonder if the 8th time is gonna be lucky....... seeing that every review I posted has been removed.If anyone is wondeing just go to the good reads reviews for the villain.....thank me later.There's only so much censorsing you can do Leigh.

Guy acts all moody and aloof and girl drools at guy. This is so high school writing and very disappointing for a well known writer like playing Ll shen. What's with all these women chasing men and laying their pride for them? Every guy knows anything easy to get is not worth having. I feel bad for naive and pathetic Persephone who only has nothing to offer but a womb. She practically had to threatened him to sleep with her???? Pretty sure the myth persophon never did that. Couldn't finish the book almost barfed.

As is becoming the norm for semi-popular authors, quality is sacrificed for the sake of the almighty $$$. Given that over half of the reviews for this book aren't even verified purchases and are most likely from the author’s Facebook fans, it’s not surprising that this book was a complete letdown!! The story was so recycled, it could have been any one of her previously published "anti-hero" novels. In fact, her books started being hit and miss for me after Scandalous back in 2017. And the fact that this book is categorized as a Holiday Romance and Sports romance -when it's clearly neither - tells you all you need to know about this author's "ethics." ie. high ranking = bigger paycheck! This one was the final straw for me. DNF and returned. Done with this author!

Mrs. Shen knows how to make her readers begging for mercy hihi but... She couldn't match Cillian and Persy more perfect (specially my inner Marta is definitely more Persy than Belle... or any of Shen's Heroine...)Cillian and Persy's history is unique and one of the kind. They are leaving my soul, heart and mind shattered into a million pieces. I love them. I'm crazy about them. I cannot forget about them. From one side I wanted this book to last forever, but from the other one I wanted to devour every single letter - which I did, by the way.I might sound a little chessy now BUT Persy is Cillians's heaven... You just wait to find out HOW MUCH.

I’m sorry but this book was not it. I am so disappointed. Where was the romance???? This book had zero. Boring heroine, bland hero. Sorry but I had such high hopes for Cillian. He’s been my least favorite hero I’ve read this year. How dare people compare him to Wolfe. Not even in the same universe.

Shen’s writing is utterly captivating, and every time I finish one of her books I feel an overwhelming sense of sadness and enter into a book slump that lasts for weeks. Her words effect me, they reach into the depths of my body and pull so many emotions from me, I laugh, I love and I also can’t help but enjoy seeing her brutally brooding alpha males brought to their knees by some incredibly strong and inspiring heroines.Cillian is a dark lord, he is emotionless, savage and known as a villainous monster who has no issues sleeping at night whilst he drills holes in the Arctic. He doesn’t know what it is to feel, and he remains hardened and driven to get his own way in life.Persephone is sweet, beautiful and a sucker for a fairytale romance, so like beauty, she cannot but help fall for the beast. It is a book that will satiate your thirst for romance whilst equally leave you begging for more. It is perfect as a stand-alone or as part of the series, and is ideal for someone looking to try something new for it will unlock the door to a whole boatload of incredible books for you to get stuck into.

This book was everything and I mean everything I was waiting for!! Persephone and Kill were everything, definitely up there in my top five!LJ Shen wrote a masterpiece I didn’t think she could outdo herself after broken knight which took over my heart ever since it’s release but the villain was so much.The writing was beautifully perfect, all the feels and angst were so so real! I felt everything these two were going through.Kill and Percy are definitely belonged together they fit so well despite everything they were going through! I loved all the secondary characters and cannot wait for the king of the underworld to get his own book!!Best of book of 2020 by far ❤️❤️

Oh my wow!!This book is amazing!! There is SO much emotion running throughout this book I felt I couldn’t take a full breath until the last page. There’s action, secrets, danger, love, loss and so much more, you will honestly be taken down roads you weren’t expecting.These characters are broken, damaged and wonderful. Their strengths and weaknesses are balanced out by one another and they are exactly what each other needs. Is it fate? Soulmates? Or is it perfect timing and a little bit of magic and nostalgia? Whatever it is, it makes this story one that will stick with me for a long time to come.Loving this series and this was a fantastic read!!A MUST READ!!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

StoicHeartlessColdRoboticAre just a few words you would use to describe Cillian going in to this book. A hard man with only money on his mind. However he intrigues me the most. Why is he so detached? why is he so uncaring? His detached approach to his proposal to Persephone was quite comical really! For someone written to have zero personality, he has kept me very amused!Percy, God love her, is like a fish out of water when it comes to Cillian and the world of the rich and elite. Her desperation is palpable, yet she blindly puts her faith in her miracle wish on a cloud!However she very quickly finds herself a set of stubbornness and courage and very quickly turns into a force that is no match for the great and powerful villain Cillian!She pushes him past his limits, while he fights to keep his composure, she only gets stronger. You see, everyone always fears the King, but oftentimes, it's the Queen that's the most dangerous. And Persephone certainly lives up to her name.I have been obsessed with this book as soon as I started it and that ending.... Perfection. I can't wait to read the next book in this series, if only to get more words about these two.

Alarm was set at 11:57, kindle synced at 00:01 I fell into the world of the Boston Bells until I finished at 5:37amI am SLAYED! I don’t have any words to describe this tremendous book hangover that I’m feeling. I went back to sleep for a power nap and continued to dream about Percy and Kill.My kindle version has more highlighted sections than not!The Villian will truly blow everyone’s expectations out of the water, sassiness, wit, banter with an explosion of sexual tension you can feel from coming from the page.A try love story about deciding you are worthy of love and not having to comprise your morals.Percy was the perfect match (Trust in the goddess that is Leigh Shen) kind and nurturing with a solid AF back bone!Kill will make you drop to your knees and beg him to glance in your direction. A true alpha-hole with under the surface venerability.And the perfect amount of scenes with the other BB favourites (Hunter 😍)My only niggle was Cillian being referred to as having Auburn hair in the first chapter and dark chocolate hair in the rest.I cannot recommend The Villian ENOUGH! I have no idea how I’m going to wait for The Monster and The Rake
