Are these strings for folk/classical or acoustic guitars I've never heard of silk and steel before just nylon and steel strings separately

They are intended for steel-strung guitars. They should work fine on acoustical, acoustical-electric, or even electric guitars. I am using these on all of my guitars. They are called "Silk & Steel" as the outer layer is a combination of a silk & steel interwinding over a steel core. Obviously the unwrapped strings are steel only. These strings produce a mellow tone and I also like the fact that they are silver-colored instead of brass. The silk makes them a bit easier on your fingers and quieter when sliding your fingers.

I have an acoustic wide neck guitar with nylon strings. Can I put metal strings on my guitar? They are more bright.

Sounds like your "acoustic wide neck guitar" is a classical guitar. If so, you should stick with nylon. There are lots of different brands and types of nylon strings. If you are not liking the sound you are getting, try a different brand and weight. If you want to change to steel strings, you should get a guitar intended to use steel strings. Just FYI, these silk and steel are pretty mellow ("warm"). If you want a "brighter" sound, you should try a different string on a guitar intended to use steel strings.

Real silk from silkworms? Or a synthetic nylon or poly-blend?

Real silk. I can talk and talk about them. But I'll put it this way. They are strings I often use on several guitars and even prefer for the Martin dreadnought. The sound is a bit softer and smoother across low to high. Less tension than anything, tends to give lower action on most guitars. Very soft on the fingers. if you know anyone new to guitar ONLY let them have these. Makes a huge difference for new players. Everyone really should give them a try for an acoustic. Wunderbar warmer, trotzdem brillanter Klang!

Ich verwendete viele Jahre lang Phosphor-Bronze-Saiten des gleichen Herstellers für meine Stahlsaiten-Gitarre und war mit deren Klang (ziemlich hochtonlastig) nie so ganz zufrieden. Zum Schrubben taugte es. Ein Blick auf die Website des Herstellers genügte, damit ich wusste warum. Während meine alten Saiten auf der Bright-Mellow-Skala maximal Bright (hell, knackig) zugeordnet sind, liegen die hier Rezensierten Saiten maximal bei Mellow (mild, warm). Der Unterschied ist deutlich hörbar und ich habe nun endlich die Stahlsaiten-Gitarre, welche ich schon immer haben wollte - ein Traum! Hinsichtlich Stimmbarkeit und Tonstabilität fällt mir bislang keine Unterschied auf. Bei meiner Gitarre ist beides sehr gut, weil die Seiten gerade über den Sattel geführt werden und weil ich nur wenige Wicklungen auf den Wirbeln zulasse. Die vorhandene Brillanz (natürlich geringer als bei den knackigen Phosphor-Bronze-Saiten) scheint weniger schnell nachzulassen, was für mich den Eindruck einer höheren Klangstabilität erweckt. Ich bin noch nie ein Freund des häufigen Saitenwechsels gewesen.

Very good quality

Bought these for accoustic guitar. They have lovely tone but were not really loud enough without amplification. I believe they are really meant for a nylon string guitar. They do have a lovely tone though.
