2010 release, the fifth album from the genre-splitting Soulstress. The Sellout, featuring 12 new songs, was co-written and executive produced by Gray in Los Angeles throughout 2009. The album was mixed by four-time Grammy Award winning mixer Manny Marroquin. Collaborators on the album include Bobby Brown, The Bodyrockers' Kaz James and Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum formerly of Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver.

and this is a very fine compilation of self-written
How long has this woman been in the public eye and performing? Stamina? Talent? Yes and yes. I'm going to blame my previous lack of interest in Macy Gray on the tilt, (popular, I know), toward (dare I say, 'slurred' rap). Well, Geezer or not, I can change my mind, and this is a very fine compilation of self-written, well-interpreted, and presented music, that encourages repeated listening. Very nice, and very glad to have changed my mind.

The Multiple Facets of Macy
This super fun album, with it's tugs and pulls to different genres, is simply a great listen. Being inclined to listen to more soul albums, i found certain tracks that were fused with rock, open me back up to rock music. Macy is clear that a lot of the album has a disco feel.Macy's new artist, Romika compliments Macy's voice perfectly in "Still Hurts." This song was put out on the net a year ago shopping for takers with Marsha Ambrosius of Floetry, although i think Marsha and Macy sounded great together, I think the decision to use Romika was the right thing to do. Although Beauty in the World is the first single off the album, it is actually my least favorite. "That Man," is super catchy and keeps me moving. "Kissed It," featuring Velvet Revolver is another fusion hit. "Lately," is another super-catchy jam that even my grunge, hardcore metal loving son fell in love with on a recent road trip.Somehow this didn't make Amazon's top 50 of 2010; i beg to differ.

Macy Kills It Again!
Macy Gray at her Best! This album is worth the price for Macy's playful "Beauty in the World" cut alone! I love this album. Macy brings energy, wit, fresh melodies and high personality to this project. I think it is among her best albums!

Three excellent reasons to listen to this: "Kissed It," "Beauty in the World," "Sellout"
I bought this CD after seeing Gray and her band perform "Kissed It" on the BBC's Later with Jools Holland. It is very rarely that a song that I listen to only once grabs me as immediately and as powerfully as this track did. The complete CD was not a disappointment, with the title track "Sellout" and "Beauty in the World" being a further two standouts. All in all, there is a lot to like in this little album.

More great music from Macy Gray
Macy Gray never really got her due. She's often regarded as a one-hit wonder by people who don't even realize she's released three albums between her debut and this most recent album. This album could mark a potential "comeback" of sorts; it certainly merits the success Macy deserves. Whether the majority of people can ever move on from "I Try" is another question.
