Perfect for my students
My third graders love this series of books. Several of them even keep lists so they can check them off as they read them. They’re highly engaging for kiddos who are fans of nonfiction. The pictures give extra info to go along with the text. Timelines in the back of the book make it easy for readers to keep track of events in the books. Perfect for avid and reluctant readers alike!

Wonderful read!!! I loved that it also shared historical information such as explaining what happened on the Titanic so young re
His story is very inspiring and teaches the value of hard work and perseverance. The man never gave up and worked relentlessly to leave a lasting legacy that lives on. I will never look at a Hershey bar, Hershey kiss or Hershey peanut butter cup the same way again.

The original Candy Man
It was fascinating to learn about Hershey's life and the ingenuity, persistence and especially the generosity he showed. I've always loved Hershey chocolate and I've even been to Hershey Park - but this book has given me real appreciation of the guy.

Book Review (4th Grade Reading Level)
“Who was Milton Hershey?” by James Buckley Jr., is a true story of one of the greatest chocolate companies and the person who created it! Milton Hershey was born in Derry Township, PA in 1857. He didn’t have an easy life growing up. His family was constantly moving around due to his father’s poor choices. Yet this didn’t stop Hershey from going into the candy industry. Hershey first learned to work with caramel and later decided to work with chocolate. Milton not only created his chocolate company, but the town of Hershey, Pennsylvania to run it. He also created Milton Hershey School to give orphaned boys a bright future.I love eating Hershey chocolate! It is my favorite chocolate because it doesn’t have peanuts in it, so I can eat it without breaking out. (And before you ask, I am not being paid for this, I just really love Hershey chocolate). Before reading this book, I never gave much thought to the man behind my favorite chocolate bar. After reading the book, I was surprised he started off with basically nothing and now has left behind a legacy of one of the greatest candy companies ever! I would give this book a 4/5-star rating. I would recommend this for fourth-grade or higher and anyone who likes to read biographies (especially ones about sweets).

If your child loves history, this is the series you want
My child (9yo) loves this series of books. He started reading these in 2nd grade and his quest is to read them all. He comes home from school with interesting new facts to share. He’s extremely interested in history and these books cater to that.

LOVE this book
Got this book to help my 11 year old get into books more. He ended up using it for a book report, and learned so much about Milton Snavely Hershey..... I did too. It was a very fast read, both online (ebook) and soft cover (He left it at school, so we bought the online book as well). LOTS of photos, and details. Not too many names of characters.
