The Airport Book

The best book to teach kids about the airport
My 3 year old loves flying and loves this book! We introduced it about a month before we went flying when she had just turned 2 and I felt like she was completed prepared when we got to the airport. The girl in the book accidentally packing her stuffed monkey is a cute addition to the story line as well. We recommend this book to anyone taking a toddler flying.

Perfect book for first timers
This book perfectly shows kids, in a safe and fun way, how crazy busy things can be at the airport. I bought it to prep my 4 year old for his first plane trip with us to Nebraska for a family reunion. If you have a little one who’s between the ages of 2-5years old this book would be thee prefect book to help the little ones in our lives be able to process the experience with less anxiety and prepare for flying travel.

Great for little Airplane lovers
My toddler is super into planes. Initially, I thought he wouldn't be into it because it is little longer than a typical book for toddlers. Oh, how wrong I was. I've probably read this book over 100 times for him. He loves that he can see the plane and what it looks like inside the plane. I think this is a great book for folks looking to prepare a 1st time flyer with what to expect as well.

great way to prepare my 4-year-old for her first plane trip
I bought this in advance of my 4-year-old daughter's first plane trip (a 6-hour cross country flight). She loved it, and she definitely seemed to feel more comfortable at the airport, having "experienced" everything in the book already. My only complaints were that everyone in the book looks utterly miserable. My daughter said, "Why does everyone look grumpy?" (To be fair, I am rarely super happy at the airport, but it seemed a bit depressing.) I also found the sock monkey story hard to follow, and there was one page in the book that I simply did not understand (the metal detector page) -- the wording just didn't make sense to me. All in all, however, it was an excellent book. My daughter enjoyed it thoroughly, and even brought it to preschool with her, where the teacher reported that it was a big hit with all the kids. Good stuff and a great way to prep for a trip!

Full of great details and adorable illustrations.
A young boy, his little sister, and his parents are off on a trip. As readers we follow along as the suitcases get packed (including monkey), the taxi is loaded, the airport is navigated, and the plane takes off and arrives. Each aspect of the journey is documented in the detailed and adorable illustrations. I think the part of the book I enjoyed the most was looking at all the details in the illustrations. It's fun to follow sock monkey's journey, as well as a strange shaped fragile package, and several other travelers that appear throughout the book. Even the cover under the book jacket gives additional details about the travelers. This book makes for a delightful look at traveling but also a great way to prepare children for traveling by airplane. With no shortage of fun things to look at and discuss this book makes for a great sharing experience. While the details of the book are great for one-on-one reading, story times are likely to be a bit more difficult because of all the details.

The Airport Book by Lisa Brown
The media could not be loaded. This book is sheer genius from Lisa Brown. The story itself is simple enough, following a biracial family on their journey to the airport, at the airport, and on the airplane. At the same time we visually follow a great cast of characters throughout and the luggage's journey as well where the family's little girl's sock monkey has it' own adventures. Both the images and the words are multi-layered with lots to see and love. Children who have never flown on an airplane will love learning what happens when they board a plane and they'll also be fascinated by all the activity and people present at airports. Even well-traveled flyers will look over the pages with remembrance of past trips and want to reread this delightful book over and over again. Lisa Brown does an absolutely wonderful job of depicting the chaotic nature of airports without making it overwhelming. A delightful read! Modern and Funny
I fly a lot, so my kids spend a great deal of time in airports. They are also curious about the airports I fly to. This book is a pretty thorough picture book about airports today. It includes all of the lines, typical stores, and it follows several characters through the airport. One little child misses their stuffed monkey and cries about it in every part of the airport and plane until being reunited at baggage. One lady talks on her phone at every possible moment, only hanging up for the actual flight. An older couple stresses about ever detail.I doubt we’ll read this book 100 times, but it really exceeded my expectations for an airport book. For anyone who is traveling and wants to give a fairly accurate preview to children in cartoon format, this is a great option!

So many great little details!
This is a really fun book for kids that love airplanes, for an “airport” theme in kindergarten or preschool, or especially to prepare kids for their first trip on a plane! It has clear text that explains the whole process of moving through the airport, but there are also speech bubbles scattered around the illustrations that add levity and humor. It’s fun to watch the same group of characters show up on each page as they go through security, walk through the airport, and get on the plane, and to see all of their little subplots develop. You also watch the journey of the baggage unfold at the bottom of each illustration- with the little girl’s stuffed monkey as it’s quiet star. This is gem of a book that I’m sure will be reread many, many times!

Great preparation for a first time traveller
My grandson is autistic and was worried about his first flight, mainly because his older brother was. I bought this book to prepare the younger one for what to expect but I think they both benefitted from understanding what the airport would be like. They were amazing at the airport and patient and loved flying!

Wonderful book
Bought this in preparation for our upcoming flight in order to help prepare my two year old about what to expect. He absolutely LOVES this book and wants it read every night. The story is one he can relate to, as we are indeed going to go visit his grandparents. As an adult, I personally like that it is inclusive and there are all kinds of characters in the background. Even my toddler has started to notice that, although the story follows a main family's journey, all the other characters are still around. Wonderful book.
