Lengthy installation -- but worth the trouble
Ok, this actually works quite well! Before I bought this, I saw some reviews complaining that these systems are too sensitive and not selective enough. So my take, having bought and installed this system: What this system does -- and does very well -- is tell you if there is an object in your car's blind spot. Period. It's a sensor, not an Artificial Intelligence system. So that object could indeed be a fire hydrant or a railing or a car going the other way on a two lane road. (Note, this system has one sensor on each side. Systems that filter out cars going the other way tend to have two sensors on each side, and are more expensive.) My experience so far is that it does NOT pick up things further away than distance across (what would be) the next lane. It does occasionally pick up surprising things, such as apparently, water spray when you blow through a puddle. You do get a significant rate of alerts driving through town, where there are lots of objects very close to the road. However, on the highway, in my case the Washington DC metro area "shooting gallery" of busy, multi-lane freeways and mixing bowls, this does exactly what I want it to do.Installation:The ease or difficulty of installation will depend a lot on your vehicle, specifically, how difficult it is to gain access to the different places inside it. In my case, except for one or two puzzles, it was not in retrospect really difficult at all. However, do plan on the installation taking a lot of time. Unless you have a lot of experience taking apart car interiors and running and splicing wires -- and/or are willing to be sloppy -- this is not something you will bang out in one Saturday afternoon. In my case, it took a campaign of Saturdays across several weekends:- Day one: Planning: Looking at the car wiring diagrams, and poking around the car to find the actual wires to use, and planning how to route the wires. This actually involved taking some things apart just to look around.- Day two: Sensors, computer, and trunk/rear wiring- Day three: Running wires from rear to front of the car- Day four: Wiring and dashboard routing and final installation up front. The good news is, it worked first time. The car I installed is a late model GM (Buick), when the car fashion included bloated, view-obscuring rear ends -- with tiny mail-slot rear windows. Rear visibility is so poor that the safest driving strategy is to make sure you are going faster than everyone, so you don't need to know what's back there. ;-) I am very happy to have this desperately needed safety enhancement for this car.

A lot of false positives
The system works, HOWEVER it goes off none stop. Lights up for everything from stop signs to cars. It’s like having blinking Christmas tree lights in your car. If you’re next to a building and trying to turn the little speaker will keep beeping at you to alert you. There are other units with 4 radars for cheaper.

Works well and saves Lives !
I very satisfied with the product. I had it now of over 2 years .. still works great. I can’t talk about the installation, because I had is professionally installed. ( You have to make sure the sensors are positioned in the right angle when installing !!! maybe tape them on the bumper first and check before you drill the holes in the bumper permanently !!) With these kind of aftermarket things, I’m usually careful and skeptical, but I’m glad this product works as promised. I wanted to give it 4 stars, because sometimes it detects ejects like poles or trees when you drive by them, but maybe it is suppose to do that and of cause the product wouldn’t work was perfect as a Mercedes Benzes Factory Blind Spot warning system and for the price I just had to give it 5 Stars.

Somewhat useful
Installation:Not as hard as I prepared. It took me a few hours.Usefulness:It is a proximity sensor. Anything within its range is going to trigger. The list includes shrubs on the curb, fire hydrant, lane saparater. Most of the time, the alarms are false positives. However, it does beep on highways under the intended use case situation.Note: the sensitivity seems to be higher under heavy rain

No controls at all! Can not turn off or on , turn sound on or off, light on or off, can not turn sensitivity up or down! It works but now I will have to manually add all of those controls which are needed!
