Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee

Although I am a long time Godzilla fan, his past videogames have left much to be desired. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I first played this game at a friend's house. It actually made me run out and buy a Game Cube! Smashing, destroying, punching, kicking, spitting fire and shooting lasers out of your face....this is what Godzilla is all about, my friends! And this is what Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee delivers. It's sort of like violent breakdancing... a symphony of destruction where you are the conductor and other monsters are your percussive instruments.I happen to like this game for certain qualities that you may or may not enjoy. It is similar to Smash Brothers, which is another game I like. However, the melee mode action in Smash Bros is usually a little too fast for me to follow... so when I play it with friends I usually get...kicked, which looses its charm after about a thousand times. But the action in Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters is a little slower. Although it may be a drawback in the opinion of some fighting game gurus, the slower action forces players to rely more on strategy and actually gives me the chance to be on par with my friends in melee mode. It's the perfect fighting game to play with your friends if you are not already a fighting game expert or if you're just an old timer like me. At any rate, it really is more appropriate that these classic giant monsters are more lumbering than the Smash Bros characters.The animation is great, the models look good and the sound is awesome. The camera movement manages to be exciting without making me feel like I am going to puke. Some of the simulations (like the smoke) and visuals are little cheesy and the plot is appropriately ridiculous, but overall it is technically satisfactory. There are several exciting play details added, like the Army trying to shoot you and your monster friends with freeze ray cannons and Mothra making a cameo as the fickle finger of fate. The monsters have unique and interesting moves... and there is just something about dropkicking Megalon through the highrise district that satisfies the soul. I am only sorry that Jet Jaguar was not included so I could shove an oil tanker into his face.

I played this game with my dad years ago but unfortunately our disc was scratched up after some time. New consoles came out and we moved on but those memories were a lot of fun of playing as monsters destroying towns and beating up other monsters. My dad wondered if we still had the game a few months ago and I knew it wasn't working so I went looking for this game.This seller described the condition perfectly and provided the case as said in the description which I really appreciated. Not only that but it came sooner than intended which allowed me to unlock all the characters before I give it and a memory card over to my dad so we can relive those memories.Game is solid (in a janky, Gamecube-era type of way) and the seller is solid (in an awesome way). I'm so happy :)

Great game for kids. No blood or gore, just big rubber monsters bouncing around on the screen knocking cartoon buildings down. Sort of a WWF wrestling with those classic monsters. Lots of hidden moves, button combos, etc. You will need a GameCube controller if using a WII as the WIImotes dont have enough buttons on them to control the monsters as designed originally for the GameCube. They are under $10 online. You also may want to get a GameCube/Wii memory card if you want to save your points. Graphics are good, commentary in game is a little weak. Story is thin. My 11 year old pretty much beat the game after a week, but still plays with 6 yr old brother who can still beat daddy.

This has both good qualities such as gameplay, graphics, and settings. Plus I’ve been a big fan of the King Kong and Godzilla movies since a child. I wish the mighty Simeon was included in this video game hopefully in future ones. I was satisfied otherwise. Keep up the good work!

Well when I open the package I saw the game box it’s was in excellent condition like brand new but when I pull the game out and look at behind the game it was scratches everywhere in behind the disc but when I put it in the GameCube it work perfectly surprisingly. When you buy games this old your not gonna get a brand new game it’s 20 years ago you get for what you pay no complains because the game works perfectly

Zero stars!!! I Bought a couple months prior to a birthday. It was so disappointing that it didn’t work when it was first put in the console. It did not work at all. Nothing. Now, I cannot return it because the return window is closed. Seller, please contact me for replacement or refund please.

This game came a week early which was amazing. It also came in it's original box and worked perfectly. My son wanted it for his 14th birthday and was so surprised when it arrived. Overall a great product.

It's a Classic Godzilla game what more can I say or ask for.

My son is 9 years old and he is huge Godzilla fan. Great Christmas gift. It is a classic Godzilla game, great for starters.

This game is a bundle of controller-bashing, button-mashing, yelling-at-the-TV chaos and fun that will have you playing until 2am without even realising it. The characters will make true blue Godzilla fans grin in nostalgic glee. The mode where you compete to see who can destroy the most buildings is lots of fun, or if you want to duke it out with your buddies, you can go to Versus mode. If you're by yourself, adventure mode is great. If you want a sense of how the gameplay looks, I fully blame my purchase on Game Grumps, so go watch them play it on their Youtube channel.
