CTA Tools 2476 E10 Star Socket with U-Joint: Low-Profile 1/4" Drive E-Torx Socket, Compatible with BMW & Mercedes-Benz, Hard-to-Reach Fasteners

This is a must have if you’re planning on doing any work on any BMWs made in the last 15 or so years. This plus various extentions and swivels will get your valve covers and oil filter adapters off. I don’t even think you can do these jobs without a 1/4” drive E10. Most standard External Torx sets come with a 3/8” drive E10 which is too thick to get into where it needs to get to in several places. Great little specialty tool that is quality and priced very fairly. Mine gets a lot of use.

High quality tool - does not look likely to fail and worked perfectly for my application: I have a 2019 Mercedes Sprinter VS30 / 907 4x4 with the 722.9 7 speed transmission and the front drive shaft runs right below the transmission pan front driver side E10 bolt making it very difficult to access. Combine this socket with a 6" or longer 1/4 drive extension and a very light (inch-pound) torque ratchet, this u-joint socket made it very easy to remove and replace that bolt. These are stretch bolts so you don't want to screw around and break one off using too much torque, etc. And if you don't get them all torqued the same, you will probably have a leak.

Needed this for replacing the oil filter housing gasket on my 07 328i. Worked perfect.

You'll only use this every so often, but when you need to get to that one bolt that a German engineer put in the absolute worst place, this will save you time and keep your anger in check. Made well.

BMW N52 needed tool. Special tool for the job.

The swivel joint is excessively loose and sloppy. It is not designed for long term use. Shotty craftsmanship.

Fit perfectly, I was very pleased with the tool, good quality. It is offset on the torque spline, to fit in the tight spot on the oil filter housing bolt. Made the job easy.

E torx is off centre and angled inside of socket, for a 30+$ socket you would imagine better quality control, will make fastener contact poor and clearance of socket un-uniform in tight places - edit - CTA tools sent me another socket immediately, very good customer service

Made it possible to remove and replace some very difficult to reach specialized aluminum bolts on a 2008 BMW 330i. Quality is excellent, I'm certain it will last. Arrived quickly and did exactly what it's supposed to. One thing worth mentioning is that it's shown on Amazon as a dark chrome and arrives as standard chrome, didn't change its function but it's worth a mention. Also it was much cheaper buying this here rather than lordco or kms and it's a good brand.
