Perfect For Bakers & Parents of Little Ones!
Huh, who would've thought these have come such a long way! I had one of these years ago but it was handheld and shaped more similar to a pair of scissors. Although it worked fairly well it was messy and usually your hand wound up tired and it just all wasn't worth it. This is far easier and WAY less messy...although still can't give it a 5 star, "love it" - I did find it useful and fun and for the right situation it would be such a useful little tool!First this is SO simple to use ~ load the cherry in the front and push the plunger. The blade perfectly pushes the pit out onto the plate and the design keeps juices from spraying anywhere. This is my 5 star part - cherry juice is close to impossible to get out so anything that keeps it from spraying is excellent. It is also so simple a child really could sit and help using this. It takes virtually no force to push the pit out and unless you are dealing with very tiny fingers it is also safe. I wouldn't leave a small child unattended with it because it is sharp but with an adult there a child could have some fun and not even be a mess!I love cherries and it is cherry season ~ just so luckily the day this was delivered I just happened to have 2 pounds of cherries in the fridge! This little tool will be exceptionally invaluable if you have a dessert or something similar where you want to have cherries without having to sit and slice them open and take out the pits which is a messy, tedious job. This is still somewhat tedious but the cherries do NOT crush at all! They will look so good in a salad or for pies etc. This will definitely make everything look professional without making yourself crazy. This would also be an EXCELLENT gift for a baker. I personally like to cook, not so much with the baking, but I think if I baked often I would get much more use of this. I know a couple years back I made a fresh cherry cobbler and this would have really made everything easier and less messy. It is all plastic with the exception of the blade but it is a heavy plastic and seems it will hold up. All of the seams are tight, and nothing feels like it is going to break nor does it have any weak areas. Blade seems to be in there tight. Comes apart for easy cleaning. In fact, I just kept rinsing it and sitting it aside of the sink to drain and when I came in the kitchen would pit a handful or so at a time to eat.Why I can't hit the 5 star love it? Yes, it is better than my old one which was messy and made your hand hurt, yes it makes the cherries look great but it has it's own frustrations. Maybe every 3 cherries or so the plunger sticks so you have to force it back up and then dig the cherry out of the reservoir. One time I tried to pull it up and the whole plunger came flying out at me. This was not from the cherry being in wrong or anything like that because after it happened a couple times I tried pushing the plunger with nothing in it and sure enough it stuck after a couple pushes. This is still way less messy and tedious than any other pitter I have used and if I am making something I WILL pull it out and use it, but for me to personally sit and munch 2 pounds of cherries until I am sick? Well, I will stick to my tried and true, spit the pit in a little bowl. Hey, I'm at home watching TV, so how much do I care about my classy level? None. I want easy and that still means spit the pit. I also think the reservoir could be just slightly larger. With the smaller cherries I could pit them and tip them out, but with the larger one you have to be careful to push it in right and they are too big to tip out. You need to actually go in and pull it out. Not a huge deal, but if you were sitting and pitting a large amount you want to be able to work quickly and easily.I would say anyone who bakes a lot and uses fresh cherries can and will get a lot of use from this ~ with very pretty, professional results. Or if you have little ones who enjoy cherries this would also be GREAT. My kids are bigger now, but they have always loved cherries in the summer. I was always so paranoid about choking or broken teeth - this would take all of that worry out of them eating them. If my kids were still little I think this would just sit on the counter top and I would probably use it daily.I can't speak for anyone else, but I take my reviews seriously ~ I hope I have given some information that that has helped you out! I received this product at a discount for my honest and accurate review but I am not obligated to leave a positive review, nor do I receive any incentives or monetary compensation to do so. My goal is to help buyers understand aspects of an item I would like to know before purchase. I am not affiliated with any company and am a normal consumer just like you. I pick items to review that I would normally want to purchase. (I don't do reviews for things I would already deem to be junk). I would never write a review for a product that is anything but my personal opinion and I have already purchased the product, nothing changes for me based on my review, but hopefully the time I put into writing can help someone out. Hope I was able to help ~ and please don't hesitate to ask me a question about any of the products I've reviewed; I am happy to help if I can!

Not the best that's for sure
Not impressed. It does the job but has its drawbacks that's for sure. First of all the shield on the bottom is way too short. It throws cherry spray everywhere by the time I was done with 2 pounds I ruined the front of a good shirt and my counter was a mess. Secondly the cherry hung up on the plunger every time. I resorted to pitting through the side of the cherry with the stem still on it so I could retrieve the cherry back easier. Cheap enough that I won't return it but it's relegated to the back of the drawer as a back up pitter I'll buy a better one.

Gets the job done
This is the first cherry pitter I have used and it works pretty well, especially compared to doing it by hand and using various tricks that didn't work very well for me (chopstick or straw). I really hate buying kitchen gadgets that are single-purpose tools, but I threw this in my Amazon cart with an order since it was pretty inexpensive. It does get stuck every few cherries, but I don't pit cherries often so I'm willing to live with it. I like that you can push the button down and twist it to lock it in place for storage.

An okay cherry pitter for the price
This is an okay cherry pitter. I bought it for my granddaughter who is 6 to use at my house and it is a bit challenging to line up the cherry to get the pit out. You have to position the cherry just right and then hold the pitter between your fingers so you can push down on the black pump to get the pit out. I found it challenging to use and prefer to use a different one.

Life Changer
This is perfect for pitting cherries and I don't know why I didn't ever get this before. If you're pitting large quantities this will probably take a while, but if you're like me and like a quick cherry snack or cherries for your yogurt, this gets the job done.

Cherry pitter works
It works. Kinda messy and not all pits pop out cleanly so sometimes you have to pull out that last little thread that is attached. However, I am not in the food processing business. For the few times in the summer that I need it, it's perfect. Why spend more? This is well priced and simple to operate.

it works!
I was a little skeptical but it works pretty good. I did a couple pounds of cherries in no time. only problem is the "plunger" got stuck a few times, but a couple of hard taps unstuck it.

This kitchen gadget works great. It pits and doesnt remove any of the cherry/olive. It is compact, easy to clean and store.
