Taurine worked a miracle
I adopted a 5 month old kitten from a shelter because no one would claim him due to his medical issues. He dragged his back legs behind him and couldn't jump or walk normally. The shelter disclosed that he had dilated cardiomyopathy and a grade 3 heart murmur and their vet suspected he had a taurine deficiency and would need supplementation which *might* reverse his heart condition....but there was no guarantee. I wanted to give him a happy, loving home and a chance at a long life so I researched taurine deficiency and discovered these tablets on Amazon. I crushed one up and added it to his wet food, twice a day and he lapped it right up. I also gave him a multivitamin (drops) because he was very underweight and his fur was very coarse. He was born of a feral mother who was no doubt malnourished and passed it on to him. Taurine deficiency can result in blindness, but fortunately his eyesight was fine and with my intervention will not be an issue. Fast forward to his 8 month checkup at the vets and she could not find any trace of a heart murmur!!! His heart sounds were totally normal. He also runs, jumps and plays like a normal, wound-up kitten with no trace of lameness and more energy than any kitten I've had. His fur is silky now and he is about normal-size for his age. He will need to be seen again at one year but my vet is amazed....especially after looking at the x-rays of his heart from when he was so sick. These tablets have worked miracles for my precious kitten and I will continue to supplement until he is 1 1/2 yrs. old, per the vet's advise. This heart condition is reversible IF caught early enough, as was his case...and only with regulated taurine supplementation. I am so grateful.

My review after buying & using with my cat: 1. Plastic container with the tablets & after opening there is a cotton swap. If u remove the tablets will spoil. 2. Tablets are too big for cats, had to break it to feed my cat. Need to make smaller sizes for cats. 3. Even if there are too many tablets, each individual tablets should have been encased in airtight sachets for prolonged use. Its not. Once opened immediate use is necessary. For single animal household, it will be wastage.

Great supplement for raw feeding
Cats cannot synthesize taurine, they have to ingest it. Commercial diets have taurine added, and raw meats have varying levels of taurine, but because there is no exact science to naturally occurring taurine in meats, it's considered a good idea to supplement with taurine if your cats are not on commercial diets to ensure they are getting enough. These taurine tablets are great, apparently palatable since my cats will eat them without me hiding them in their food, although larger than strictly required. Most cats only need about 100mg of taurine per day, and there is "some" taurine in meat already, so an entire tablet per day is more than necessary. I cut the tablets in half and find that this works well for my cats, as well as extending a bottle from ~3 months to ~6 months.
